I just finished basic with the Army and my OCS class is suppose to start a week from Sunday. Its nice to be back in the civvy world. I missed getting to browse the board every day. As of right now I'm kind of in limbo. I'm having to go before an MRB (medical review board) to see what they are going to do with me and how that will effect my flight status and flight physical. I herniated a disc in my lower back when I tripped and fell down on the last road march. I had the 50 or 60 lb rucksack on my back when I was trying to jump over 2 small trees and I tripped and fell forward. I got back up and noticed my lower back hurt a little after I fell, but I got back up and drove on.
The next morning when I got up I couldn't even bend over to put on my boots. I went to sick call and they sent me to the hospital for an MRI. It turns out that I have a herniated disc in my L5 or L6 region. I don't remember now. So to make a long story short, tey have sent me home on leave. They have sent me to an Orthopedic surgeon and for the time being I'm jst going to physical thearapy everyday to see if that will help. It seems to be helping quite a bit. Another option is to get some kind of epidural injection in my spine. The last resort is surgery. I don't want the epidural or surgery. So for the time being I'm sitting around drawing a paycheck and waiting in limbo to hear an answer of what they want to do with me. I checked with the people in medical today and they said it would probably be 5 to 6 weeks before I hear anything. I'm pretty bummed b/c I was loving the Army and was excited about getting started with OCS and then moving to Mother Rucker to get started with my flight training. If it was meant to be then I guess everything will work out for the best.
I meant lots of Army Aviators while at CRC and many said they read this baord quite often.
