What's the current pilot count at your airline?
Just trying to see where the state of the airlines are these days and it might help others to make a better decision on where they stand for future airline job.

At my former airline.....

US Airways: 4800+ pilots now, 1070 on furlough

Next month: Anybody's guess, but first number may get a little smaller, and the second number may get a lot bigger.

Fed Ex

Fed Ex has 4220 as of this month. Our retirement numbers coming up are:

2002 58
2003 83
2004 76
2005 128
2006 162
2007 170
2008 155
2009 133
2010 165
2011 156
2012 187
2013 177
2014 141
2015 169
2016 196
2017 195
2018 186
2019 180
2020 179
2021 186
2022 152

Grand total of 3234 in 20 years!

I was hired this year at age 33 and ran my seniority number on a program we have on our union web site. It said I will retire at seniority number 131! You can't beat that (unless you are number 130 of course)!

AA + TWLLC = 14,200 plus or minus with 695 of those on furlough

Just received these numbers for AA retirements ONLY, I would count on atleast another 100-200 additional retirements per year from the TWLLC list.

(AA retirements only)
I don't know why the numbers for '04 are not here
6/30/2003= 180
6/30/2005= 203 Age 60 retirements
6/30/2006= 219
6/30/2007= 347
6/30/2008= 340
6/30/2009= 459
6/30/2010= 406
6/30/2011= 358
6/30/2012= 321

Alaska

Alaska has about 1,560 on the line. Zero furloughs. Hiring about 100 this year.
Horizon has about 40 F/O's on the street I think.

Big retirment numbers in the near future for such a small pilot group. We will loose about 40, 50, 60, and 70 per year over the next 4 to 5 years.

Looking for 8% growth this year and a planned 8% growth next year. About 102 aircraft on property with more 700's and 900's coming this year and next. Rumors of 300's (with cargo doors) coming to ANC to replace the Mudhens (200's - with gravel gear).
