Rumor has it that we are getting 767's soon, with Yellow and Red paint. This was revealed to us by confidential sources in LIT and MCO. We should get our first operational 767 in June. It also appears that there is a HUGE merger going on with several non-sked's located in Florida. Conditions of the merger to be revealed after ATI crewmembers sign the upcoming contract. It is possible that DB is buying DHL and will merge all aircrews and contracts. Just a rumor....but....

What airlines are gonna merge? And how is anyone gonna buy DHL... I think this is wishful thinking, ABX and ASTAR seem to be able to more than handle all of the flying....

I don't know about all that merger stuff, that seems a little out there; however, I have also heard the RUMOR that ATI's new 767s might be yellow and red. I have also heard the RUMOR that DHL is looking for other airlines to provide some lift. Again, this is not factual information, just more info floating around in the rumor mill.

Now that's an interesting rumor. I have to agree with ABXdx that there is more than enough lift between our two airlines to fly whatever is out there for DHL domestically. Where are you guys getting the 767's from?

Hey Haulingthemail,

Why would you make a statement like that? Why would you joke about the “walls crumbling into tiny pebbles? I don’t know, something doesn’t sit well with that statement. I have too many friends over there depending on a steady paycheck to casually joke about the downfall of ATI.

Big P.

I agree. Damn well put!

I don't know who this clown "Hauling the Mail" is, but he is definitely a loose cannon in my book. Real "by-the-seat-of-his-panties." like.

Unless they are trying to get someone to do it cheaper...... Although I doubt ATI would have the reliability that ABX or ASTAR has...

Anyone know JR Russell? -8 Capt and was living in the FLL area?

The rumor that I heard is that all DHL international freight is going to be moved by Atlas/Polar and domestic moved by ATI/Cappy. Again this is just a rumor that I heard. I agree that ABX/Astar do a great job moving the boxes, but it sounds like the Germans are going for the lowest bidder.

lowest bidder= fantastic reliability, im sure that will work out...

767's are a hot commodity on the world market right now. ABX is constantly shopping for more and there are basically none available. They're a great airplane, it would be a good move if ATI could land some.

It is possible that DB is buying DHL...

DHL USA doesn't own any airlines or airplanes, DPWN is not going to sell DHL even if someone had the billions it would take to buy it.

It is possible that someone could buy ABX, Astar or both, but again we're talking big money. I think DHL would be better off with one merged domestic carrier out of ILN, but there's no telling whether DHL cares at this point. We don't appear to need more lift. After the problems we saw with integration at ILN, I don't think anyone on the property is concerned that ABX/Astar will be replaced with other carriers.

Internationally, DHL is always looking for lift somewhere. They frequently contract with or buy into another carrier when they need it. The Polar buy is a good recent example, DHL needs more lift between Asia & North America. I wouldn't be at all surprised to seem them contract with ATI for some flying somewhere.

If it's true, and ATI aircraft begin to replace AStar or ABX lift, ATI's reliability will probably be better, cause DHL will reap the friggin whirlwind in Building 11 for that stunt.

Our latest rumor is that the planned 727 expansion was stopped because the company would like to bring 757's on the property...

I was hoping we'd see 757's as DC-9 replacments at ABX, but then FedEx announced plans to convert 90 of them, so I don't expect 757's will be in our price range anytime soon.

Our rumor was 2 planes for BAX and a indefinate number for DHL in Miami.

Wonder what plans DHL has for MIA? Is the Panama City DHL outfit flying in there (can't remember the name--Aero something)? Do they have anything other than pallet/belly space to S. America? Not likely that they'll exchange the ILN airplane for anyone other than Astar or ABX.

Remember whom holds the building rights and rights to the ILN airport, and whom runs the sort hubs. And has a few years left on their ACMI contract.

I would imagine 75's are a very hot commodity, with FDX in the market for at least 90. I would think ABX would be in the market for them to replace the 9's, but the cost is too high. It is basically the same price for a 757 as for a 767-200 ad you get a whole lot more with the 767.
