Today's job report showed 308,000 jobs added to the economy in March. Good news, I think, whether you like Bush or not (I don't). However, when you read the report, it shows an increase in the civilian labor force of 179,000 people - in other words, 179,000 more people were employable in March than in February. When all was told, 308,000 jobs were added but the unemployment rate increased to 5.7% over the 5.6% from February. Also, 300,000 more people went to part-time employment in March over February. Take a look at the data on this site:

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

There's a table in the middle of the report that explains this all. Could someone clear this up for me? The job report sounds rosy but the other data doesn't support a rosy economy.

Nonetheless, I'm sure the Bush Administration will show that this economy is roaring because of it. I'd like to read into it further. Thanks for any help you can offer. I don't care if you like Bush or not. I just want the truth.

The increase in the available labor force is the rise in the rate of unemployment. The number of non-farm jobs is up 308,000. Due to the fact the labor force grew faster than jobs available lead to a rise in unemployment.

I belive it is spelled "open the illegal alien floodgates to pander to the hispanic vote", but that is my opinion, I have not found facts to support that yet.

BUT, in spite of that, the economy is growing at a record rate, interest rates are at a record low and jobs are growing.

That is good news, no matter how you slice it.

Two things to consider...

The unemployment rate now is roughly the same as when Bill Clinton was running for re-election; and, the stock market peaked in 1999, well before the Presidential election that put President Bush in office...in fact, every economic report that I've heard of places the start of the recession in the waning days of the Clinton Administration.

So, why is the unemployment rate such a big deal now? And, why is the recession all the fault of the Bush Administration, and none of the fault of the Clinton Administration?

Personally, I believe the answer is that roughly half our population is simply more comfortable when Godless, unprincipled people, who do not believe in vigorously prosecuting war to the death to those who threaten this Country, are in office. Sadly, and very much mistakenly, this makes them "feel" safe and prosperous...but not so, now.

Let us hope that those on the side of the right will prevail in November.

I like good news, but the nubers are suspect. For example, do not overlook that 77,000 of the 308,000 are striking workers that have ended their strike and returned to work. Those are counted as "new" jobs.

Statistics can always be adjusted to show what you want to show. That's not intended to be an anti-Bush statement, it's just a truthful statement.
