Headed down to Brazil tonight. Four nights in Salvador then four in Manaus. Pretty much have the gouge for Salvador but wondering what to do in the Amazon??
Any takers???

Manaus is very cool. Massive city with quite a bit of history. One thin that is a MUST-DO is an Amazon River Cruise. I'm sure the folks at your hotel can hook you up with a reputable tour company that will set you right up.

Have fun

Manaus is not that bad, try the Amazon River Cruise and check out the Rio Negro, the Black River

Buy some coffee while you are down there, very good.

Right now its SUMMER in Brazil so FYI on that

Rice,
I was there about a year ago. Best thing to do: Don't get bit by a mosquito. (Malaria sucks...) Also they are wicked anal about everybody having their Yellow Fever shots....I'm sure you guys are all up to date. Check out the abandoned plane in the grass near where they park you.

The Amazon Basen is HUGE...you fly over it for almost an hour. They call it a rain forest for a reason........Rains all the time.

Enjoy.........Chocks

Geez. I'll stick to India. Oh, wait, I needed all kind of shots to go there too. Never mind... ;) TC

And don't drag ur feet (or nything else) in the water...lots of little hungry fishies there...off to India tonite..(again) enjoy..send some pix

Down here now

FYI, don´t bother with the Marriott Costa de Sauipe if youre coming to Salvador, nothing to do outside of the hotel grounds!!!!
I´m actually looking forward to Manaus now.

The river tour, for sure. Don't worry about the little fishes (they've got to have a shred of flesh to get their tiny mouths around -- of course, once that happens, you're SOL).

Also, the opera house: http://homepage.mac.com/mollet/fun/Manaus.html

Hmmm..Rice, in a Opera House? I'm thinking NOT! Ok, maybe, just dont punch it in public Ricey.....Me and G200 will have to come and bail you out!!:p
You and the bigman taking a boat down the river, and looking into each others eyes?:pimp:

Hey, I didn't say he had to listen to an actual opera ... it's an historical site.

And, you know, what happens in Manaus stays in Manaus, right?
