I was just wondering the differences or the quality of life at some of the different regionals. What are the Pay scales, the Upgrade times, Bases? I was looking at Skywest and would love the ORD base but heard their not hiring for Jet until at least April? Hows Pinnicle, CoEx, ASA, and CHQ? Which airline might I have the best odds of being in a jet and having the quickest upgrade time. I just am really confused about where to go if I get the choice? Thanks

i say get on with whoever hires you first. worry about who to choose when you come to that crossroad. good luck. Getting crj or the erj is cool, but you should remember that generally upgrade on turboprops are quicker, which means you can log that pic sooner. not to mention a slightly bigger paycheck.

flying a turboprop and a jet aren't very different! Jets just go faster and higher and have FMCs, Hell you do more work I think in a Turboprop. The airline job is still the same no matter what you fly. I didn't mean to be one of those guys who are just like " I fly a jet therfore I am better than you" guy believe me I not. I just like that the jets often have more routes than most turboprops to fly and the cities aren't so routine. The one thing I am concerned about is upgrade time!

Don't be concerned about upgrade time. You won't upgrade for a while, anywhere. I have to believe 3-4 years is the norm most anywhere, longer at some. We were at six months at Skyway, but we also may be in the downgrade/furlough cycle if this Delta thing fizzles. The simple fact is nobody is taking MAJOR deliveries after 2005. The RJ bubble is about to burst. CHQ and Mesa will be pink slipping if USAir tanks (which could be sooner than later). I would be worried just about anywhere right now if I was at the bottom, except for Xjet and maybe Skywest.

Hey, you can always PFT!! Really, turbinepilot, where do you have 340 time and not know anything about the regionals? Colgan?

With your flight times, I'd go buy a 737 type and get on with that one 737 regional that's doing all the hiring lately.
