I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect with a starting position with a medium sized 135 outfit.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks.

HaHaHaHa...HeHeHeHe..oh, my sides!

Schedule? At most 135 outfits, there is no such thing. Pager 24/7. Your "days off" may or may not be retroactive (you were on call yesterday but didn't fly, so that's a day off).

24 hours a day 7 days a week, don't answer your cell phone start looking for a new job.

Ours isn't too bad

I'm in a similar situation, just started at a mid sized 135 operator in the North East. We are on call 5 days a week with 2 hard days off per week, the off days are typically consecutive. We also accrue 1 vacation day per month. When on duty, the call out time is 45 minutes, which means you have to be at the airport dressed and ready to fly within 45 minutes of getting the call. That's the minimum though and frequently we have much more notice than that, usually know our flight schedule the day ahead of time. From what I've read about other charter operators, I'm really happy with this one so far.

Not Everyone has a bad schedule

Not Everyone has a bad schedule, mine is actually pretty good. My 135 job has me working 7am-5pm, 4 or 5 days a week. I hardly ever have a change in schedule, I never work weekends or nights.

Not all 135 jobs are that bad!

The best part is the idiots who think that being on call 24/7 is normal. You schmucks are the reason the 135 industry is the way it is. I have a suggestion, get a backbone, or continue being a whore to low-lifes who think this type of an operation is normal. Adios!

Well said, Chingado. I said f u and "adios" to that sh!t. I just wanted to answer this guy's question. The sad fact is that most of these sh!tball 135 operators don't give a flying f@ck about pilots QOL & such frivilous perks as sleep, time off, etc.

Same here. I wouldn't consider being on call 24/7!

Thanks

Thanks for the input so far guys, I feel the same way, I've been working for a charter company (small and $hitty) for about three years. I started by doing line service and eventually moved my way into the cockpit. I just never experienced any type other type of company and wanted to see what was out there. I have been talking with a new company lately and wanted some perspective for negotiation purposes. I'm not a fan of unions having already worked in one, but this is the $hit you need one for, being on call 24/7 and having a day off only when a trip cancels is crap. If they want that kind of service, they better get a phone hardwired to my duck blind......

.....Even then I still wouldn't answer it.
