What is the longest time a union has been without a contract?

I belive ASA has been in talks for almost 5 years. What is the longest time to get a new contract by any airline?
 
Actually, I think Great Lakes took 6 years to negotiate their last contract. For the record, we're still not too happy with what we have.:)
 
And I know that Champion Air is also in the running with the prior contract... And management intends to make this one the longest negotiated ever....
 
ASA isn't the only airline to have ever been beat up with this debacle. Even UPS and FedEx took awhile to come up with an ammended contract. Delta never takes this long because they pull out the "Big Stick" after two years- not because of the threat of retro.

We at ASA would have a "Big Stick" too if our pilot group would get on board and quit making up for ASA's crappy operation.

As long as pilots are still going above and beyond to hold up the fort, ASA has no motivation to settle. When pilots just do their jobs to the letter and nothing more, the operation will crumble, and ASA will be on its knees.

It worked in 1998 and it will work now.

Bitching on the internet about the contract won't do it. Sitting on your butt at the gate, and flying the profiles in flight will.

Perfect example of what he is talking about: About a month ago we pushd from the gate and we didnt have our numbers (again), in this situation we would always be the ones covering for them by calling ops, calling disptach multiple times, this time we were fed up with it, and we said lets wait and see how long it takes for them to figure out that they havent sent their numbers yet. We only had 20 people on board, we were heading to an outstation so none of them would miss connections by us doing this, and we had plenty of contingency fuel as we were overfueled by 500 pounds.

After 45 minutes of receiving no numbers, no call from dispatch, and no call from ops, we finally broke down and called them and the response we got was, oh we didnt know, looks like the gate agent forgot to send the passenger count in.

I think this guy is right, nothing will change unless we expose what sucks.
