So now that Delta is leaving DFW what does that mean for CHQ? I asked one of you on the radio today and he said no one knows. Whats up?

i had heard a preposterous rumour about gulfstream taking some CHQ flying from MCO with brasilias. any truth to this?

To be honest, NO. In fact, CHQ will probably increase flying out of MCO and the northeast due to the DFW closing.

good....the last thing we need is some brasiia cruising so. fla at 180kts.

Adding more flying into "focus cities" in Florida and some flying up the Northeast Coast.

Chautuaqua is not loosing any flying, just new destinations.

last i heard they can outperform a 1900.

doesn't matter, they will fly them slooooowwww, like their 1900's. heck a check hauler in a lance will outperform a gulfstream 1900. :D

question is, where did gulfstream get some of its hot female captains?

With the UsAirways filing I think they have much more to worry about than what they are going to do in Dallas.

Just my thoughts

That's funny. Depends on what your definition of 'taking' is...

. . . Speak only of what you know . . .

From a Merrill Lynch analyst:

Highlights:

* Delta's plan to restructure 51% of its network by January 31, 2005 is one of the more significant items that was included in the initial phase of its Transformation Plan announced yesterday.

* One of the key changes to Delta's network is the decommissioning of its Dallas/Fort Worth ("DFW") hub which will shrink from 254 daily departures serving 69 destinations (mainline and Connection) to only 21 flights serving 3 cities early next year.

* On the surface, American is the biggest beneficiary as it is the largest operator at DFW with more than 700 daily flights (mainline and Eagle) to more than 140 cities.

* However, Delta's smaller DFW operation will free up a large portion of the 28 gates that it currently uses in Terminal E. (Delta also has sizeable cargo/hangar facilities at DFW.)

* Those assets could be picked-up by low cost carriers ("LCC") like AirTran (AAI, $11.29, C-1-9), which has been adding flights to its DFW schedule, as well as new-entrants like JetBlue. We're not so sure if AMR would rather be competing against a formidable LCC rather than a financially weak legacy carrier.

* Delta's cutback in DFW flights will have the greatest impact on Delta Connection which is expected to eliminate 202 departures from the hub. Delta's wholly-owned regionals, Atlantic Southeast Airlines and Comair, are likely to see the largest cuts as SkyWest and Republic's Chautauqua Airlines operate only 18 and 27 flights from DFW, respectively.

* Delta's plan to "beef-up" Salt Lake City from 318 to 376 flights should be viewed as a positive development for SkyWest which feeds Delta in SLC although we're not sure how many of the 37 additional regional flights will be allocated to SkyWest.

* Delta also intends to grow Cincinnati from 590 to 619 flights. Although Cincinnati has one of the smallest local markets of any midcontinent hub, US Airways recent plans to downsize Pittsburgh should allow Cincinnati to capture some of that flow traffic.

* Delta's Atlanta hub will see the largest number of new departures as mainline and Connection will grow from 970 to 1,051 daily flights. This could put further pressure on AirTran's Atlanta operation, but as indicated above, AirTran may have new opportunities for growth in DFW (and possibly Pittsburgh too).

* Delta also indicated that it would build its presence in focus cities (which we think refer to markets like LaGuardia, Washington Reagan-National and Columbus), "defend" Boston, expand Florida service and grow New York-JFK. Excluding JFK and Columbus, we think it is worth noting that all of these markets are the very same markets that are being targeted by US Airways's similarly-named Transformation Plan.

CHQ is going to be JUST FINE

I'm with Comair and Fred Butrell said these things last WEDNESDAY about CHQ:

CHQ INITIALLY came to Delta connection not only because they were inexpensive but because DELTA needed another option for REGIONAL JETS than just the CRJ. He said Bombardier was trying to charge ASA and Comair much more for RJs, so DELTA made a point that they didn't need CRJs by getting an ERJ operator at DELTA CONNECTION.

He also said that he thinks US AIR will be liquidated soon. He said that DELTA HAS FIRST RIGHTS to all of CHQ's flying when and if US AIRWAYS goes belly up.

So CHQ will merely repaint their planes and nobody will lose their jobs because they're probably just going to begin flying for Delta instead of US AIRWAYS.

This is good for Delta because they will VERY VERY QUICKLY be able to make a GREAT MARKET PRESENCE with the addition of all of those ERJs.

So nobody should worry about Delta's NEW "GO TO" REGIONAL AIRLINE AND GOLDEN CHILD: CHQ.

Looks like Comair has lost the "GO TO" GOLDEN CHILD position unfortunately and it's gone to the REGIONAL AIRLINE OF THE YEAR. Whoopee.

For me that's a sad thing to see happen, but congrats to you guys at CHQ for underbidding everyone.

That's right jetflyertool, Bedford called me at home when they were negotiating a bid with DELTA and asked me to come in and help the alleged underbid. I and my pilot group were instrumental in securing the deal.

Also, congrats on being a "jetflyer". You must be proud of yourself.

And thanks to you,Comair (nee "ClownAir) guys that participated in the "Buy-A-Job" program.Hey,maybe you should bring it back to help lower your costs and make Comair more competitive.I'm sure you mean management when you say "you guys at CHQ",since the only thing we (pilot group) bid on are schedules.

Hey, let's also thank all the mainline pilots for giving Billions in concessions to save their jobs. Get a clue jetflyer. We are still one of the only Mainline or regional carrier that did not give concessions to save our jobs. What BB and Delta do is their deal. We just show up and fly. You think CHQ is your enemy??? Wake up man!!! Have you seen what has been going on around you???

Nothing personal, but we're all competing for Delta's business, and that makes you our competitor. The fact that you're in all of the cities we are, flying the same-sized aircraft makes you our largest competitor.
You sure spend a lot of time saying we're not competitors, and then swooping in to underbid us.

My point is that CHQ is not going to put you out of business. Airtran, Jetblue, Indy, and a host of others will. Yes we are competitors but as a pilot, I am not competing with you. If CHQ underbids Comair, that is a management decision, not a pilot one. And don't come back and say it is because of our contract.
