When you leave a mess in galley and the cabin for the next F/A and the Captain knows your doing it, Who is ultimately responsible for the aircrafts condition?
The FA or the Captain? and Why?

A mess in the galley would really be pretty low on the CA's list of priorities. Matters of the galley are pretty much between FA to FA.

Do you have a company policy that requires cleaning of the galley for the next crew? If so, a call to pro standards would be in order for the FA. If not, well, it's a inter-personal matter that can really only be addressed person to person. As it is considered good form to not leave the galley a mess.

If the offending F/A is not responsive to any polite matters, perhaps a "mess" left in her mailbox or kit bag may assist in getting the message across ;)

I believe, the ultimate responsibility of the a/c lies with the Captain. That is not to say that the FA is not responsible.

The Captain is responsible for the safe conduct of the FLIGHT. (Block Out to Block In). Parked at the gate it is no longer his aircraft.... just ask any gate agent or MX guy! ;)

In short, the CA is only responsible for AIRWORTHINESS issues, not "housekeeping" issues. Any FA who would leave a mess for her relief deserves the mess in their Vfile, as does the CA who let her get away with it.
