In retrospect, would it have been wiser to let USAir go under, and allow other carriers to pick up what's left?? Obviously this whole merger thing was a disaster of epic proportion.

With the above scenario, there would be no questions of seniority! America West and other carriers could have bid on USAir assets in bankruptcy court, once aircraft and gates were acquired, they could have hired those out of work USAir pilots and flight attendants and they would be stapled to the bottom of their new seniority list, or they could just find another line of work!

Let's face it, prior to this merger, USAir had one foot in the grave and the other was on a banana peel!!

Just an outsiders opinion!!!

Who is to say what would of happened to US Airways and AWA if they did not merge. The card can not be played so its anybodies guess. No sense speculating.

If we could go back in time and change things than this would be important. I would love to change choices I made in the past, but can't.

Move on to the future and see where the companies ends up.

What if The REP party would have put a better candidate then bush in those elections. What if they would have realized Mccain isn't even qualified to be a Sen(for any that watched him try to question Blankfein the other day you know what I mean)., and put a better candidate against Obama. Just comparing two disasters

Wise for you maybe. :smash:

If you shove your hand far enough up an elephant's arse you can grab a tusk, but what's that got to do with anything?

Stupid thread.

If USAir and AWA didn't merge, there would be one airline left of the two, AWA. USAir was nothing but a turd flowing out to sea.

What if we didn't keep trying to piss on each other? It is what it is.

My whole point! Then all of this bickering would have been a mute point. It seems the USAir guys are somewhat arrogant and demanding, considering they were on the verge of losing their company!

American West would have been bankrupt everybody knows that. DUH

Who was American West? Is that kind of like Reno Air?:p

If the companies hadn't merged J.O. would have put some money together, bought AWA, and formed the ultimate Big Mesa.

If the HP-TZ merger had gone through (still wondering what happened to the financing), this topic wouldn't exist. America West would be going to HI, and have a presence on the east coast and in Chicago it didn't have before. Probably going to Europe by now.

Something else might have happened..... There'd be b!tch!ng about that merger in FI.com.
