Regarding the questions about PDT getting jets: You missed the point. The point was that he was betting that the idea of moving the PSA jets to PDT and shutting down PSA will be used to whipsaw PSA into allowing more J4Jers over to PSA. "If you guys can't accept these terms, we're going to transfer all the assets to PDT and just shut you down"..."Oh, no, they're going to shut us down (again), we better just say yes!"
They won't be brought over here, we all know that. But it is one of management's typical tactics to force a group into concessions by scaring them into believing they will be elimated and their farm will be given to another entity (PDT, PSA, ALG, whatever, take your pick). How many times have all of us heard this at PDT and ALG alike? It's the same old threat, but people keep falling for it.
Regarding the complaint that the union is not forthcoming with information, what information exactly are they withholding from you? What do you want to know about? You know that blue roster sheet that was distributed? Why not call your rep and ask some questions before you complain about how the union is hiding things from you? The fact of the matter is that we at PDT, along with everyone else in U group, are along for a ride at this point. We don't know where we're going, and trying to get information or alter the course is a lot of work. Do you want speculative updates posted about all the possibilites that they are pursueing? Do you realize how wildly the rumors would fly? Do you understand that the negotiating process is damaged by running half construed truths amongst the group? Lastly, (and please, this is not trying to start a pissing contest, just think about it) if you don't like how the union is doing something, why not step up to the plate and take a swing yourself, instead of just complaining about it. We need to stand together if we're going to make anything of ourselves. Complaining and denouncing the union and not doing anything about it is counterproductive and damaging to the group. The more dissent we have amidst our ranks, the weaker we are, and management knows that and exploits it. We all know ALPA has sold us out and doesn't care about us, but our very own reps and our MEC is all ours, made up of us. The MEC is not ALPA, they are just like you and I and volunteering a lot of their free time to try to make this a better place to be. If we all actually voted (check out the voting statistics sometime, the elections for representatives have hardly any participation) and got the people in that we feel represent us the best and then stood behind them all the way, we'd be a force to be reckoned with.
