What happened to the uproar over the TSA Scanners?

I am not a big fan of the new scanners but based on the homemade explosives the Sherriff and FBI found in the house of an Escondido CA guy two weeks ago. The explosives were homemade in the guy’s garage and house and are the same type as used by suicide (vests) bombers all over the world. Could you imagine some homegrown terrorist just walking through the normal magnetic scanner and getting on a plane and detonating the device?
Do we need to have an incident to make then new scanners an invaluable tool?

I could imagine him getting hired as a wheel chair pusher or cabin cleaner thus obtaining a SIDA card. No metal detectors or security at all for him. Do we need to have an incident to make scanning all workers an invaluable tool?

Every time I've gone through security in the past month, I've had an option of what line to use. I've just chosen the non-porno scanner line and gone merrily on my way.

There are a lot of lawsuits out there. When these cases start going through the courts, we'll find out if the scanners are hear to stay. Personally, I would like to see the TSA have to pay damages to anyone who has been subjected to this screening.

This is kind of sad. Not that passengers are subjected to this but that flight crews with ID are still subjected to security screening. I've heard the argument that the ID could be false but, having your bags x-rayed while trotting through a metal detector doesn't change the validity of the ID. It just makes the crew look rediculous in front of your passengers.

It's sad that Americans are not willing to stand up for their civil liberties when the government is dead set on taking away more and more liberties under the pretense of security. Our founding fathers would be appaled at what our government is doing today.

Durning a short break between flights, I've walked through security theater trying to ceremoniously hold two monster McDonald's cokes with two bags of hamburgers dangling precariously underneath (but I did put my hat through the xray of course). When I got past the vigilant screeners and picked up my hat, it dawned on me that I just carried two bags through the metal detector and they had no idea if the McD's bags had burgers or bombs in them. Not to worry, they were too clueless to notice and I was too hungry to help them out.

As a crew member your liguids are not restricted, of course ths is based on your displaying an ID. The whole purpose supposedly of flight crews being subjected to security is that the ID might be fake. Kind of a "catch 22" proposition ain't it?
