"They took us off the plane, humiliated us in a very disrespectful way," said Omar Shahin, of Phoenix.
The six Muslim scholars were returning from a conference in Minneapolis of the North American Imams Federation, said Shahin, president of the group. Five of them were from the Phoenix-Tempe area, while one was from Bakersfield, Calif., he said.
Three of them stood and said their normal evening prayers together on the plane, as 1.7 billion Muslims around the world do every day, Shahin said. He attributed any concerns by passengers or crew to ignorance about Islam.

OK, I agree with most of the "tolerance" demands of most other folks.......
OK, I agree with most of the "tolerance" demands of most other folks - but what about their ability to tolerate "regular" old folks here in the US.
Its almost the same as a drug user. If they want to do it, go ahead, just don't try to push it on me! BTW, I bet most of your f/o's do pray before you leave the gate!!!If I felt it necessry to pray before we left the gate, I would do so. But I would understand and tolerate the fact that my First Officers got freaked out about it and some asked the Chief Pilots if I was fully compos mentis.
Uh, oh, did that brownie incident finally catch up with you?? I thought she told you she was 17!Even more so, if I know I'm being observed by cops (with guns) I am careful not to offend, not to go grabbing things out of my glove box, or running around to the trunk of my car. It is a courtesy since we all know that Police are justifiably concerned about hidden weapons.
The problem with tolerance lies in what I posted above...Political corectness has become the norm here....Sorry, if I had 4 muslims on my a/c doing that stuff, you better believe, given the history of what has happened in world events, and the east's hate for the west, I'm going to have the authorities called!Sure we should tolerate people with different faiths. By the same token they should tolerate our fears given that we recently suffered the gratest loss of civillian life by members of their faith in US history.
How old are you? Do you remember the 50's? They can pray and it is not illegal. US Air pilots can feel concerned enough to kick their Hamas loving a$$es off the airplane. They can get inspected by the feds and go on their merry ways. All was legal. Whats the problem? The system worked. Now, tell me more about the 50's you are so familiar with.Wow reading all of your comments I feel I am back in the 50's all the sudden. " We gotta stop those dang n*ggers and jews!" People get a life! These people are allowed to pray by the 1st amendment. This also shows all the ignorance on this board " Kill them all!" Geez dumbasses like you guys drive me crazy!

Just curious... do you mean Humas, the delicious garlic-ey chick-pea dish, or Hammas, the violet extremist group?
I actually mean Hamas, as in this group: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HamasJust curious... do you mean Humas, the delicious garlic-ey chick-pea dish, or Hammas, the violet extremist group?
I actually mean Hamas, as in this group: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas
I would find it sticky and messy to kick Humas off the airplane, and although I think the terrorist group can be spelled your way, most respected political thinkers, historians, world leaders, professors, and overall smart and intelligent people spell it my way.
Screw them. I would be concerned if a bunch of Christians started praying before a flight. This has nothing to do with Islam.
