I don't have the 20 or 30 something age to be playing games with some kid behind an interview desk.
That "kid" is the one that makes the decisions. And that "kid" that will be your Captain has much more experience than you do. A bad attitude is easy to see and so far yours is showing, You must change that first to get hired.
I would like to see some of you wizz kids do what I do.
Most of them have, that is why they have the experience. (Not withstanding the 500 hour TAB types)
I have also used my job to get the cross-country time I need to fulfill Part 135.243 requirements and stay current!
To stand out you need something more than just staying current. With a schedule you go no matter what the weather is doing. Rain, Ice, Snow, Fog, whatever. When was the last time you shot multible 200 and a half ILS's in one day? That is the IFR they like to see. In the airlines, if it is legal, you are going.
I would recommend that you find a 135 outfit to fly for. It does sound like you lack the IFR experience that will really make you stand out, and I am not talking about the currency crap. I mean the real world seat of the pant decision making that is required on a daily basis, ie. fuel loads, alt airports, go/no go, diverts, radar skills, reroutes, ground stops, last minute on the fly holds, and the always fun Pax or fuel decisions.
I have never seen a freight driver ever bust an employment sim check, I have seen flight instructors and banner tow types not make it through the first five minutes. On the other hand a bad attitude will flame you before you ever get to the sim portion.
10 years ago the competitive requirements to fly for a regional was 2500 TT and 1000 multi. Times have changed a bit now but 2100 and 125 multi does not make you stand out in any way, so you need to find some "look at me" time to add to your experience. Flight instructors and jump pilots MAY get an interview. Charter guys and freight dogs WILL get the interview.
