With GoJets about to start, can anyone give some info as to what happened to Freedom? As far as I know it does not exist anymore. Did Mesa kill it? What happend to the Freedom pilots at that point?

Thanks for any info, just curious about the history, so we might speculate what will become of GoJets.

Freedom is still alive, I believe that Mesa will be using it for the new Delta flying they were awarded.

There's one or two 1900's still on the freedom certificate, you'll hear them now and then flying around the southwest with the call sign "Freedom Air".

freedom is still alive. the freedom "A" pilots where brought back onto the mesa side of the operation aswell as the airplanes about a year ago. the new freedom is known as freedom "B" since all the pilots flying for it will be covered under the current mesa CBA and ALPA.. 2 beech 1900 are flying on the certificate now to keep it alive due to the feds requirement that a certificate have atleast 1 aircraft flying on it or it will be a dead certificate after I believe 90 days???... as to how it will be used it still being questioned, rumors range from sending all the 36 ERJ's to freedom to fly for delta or possible sending the crj900's back to freedom. the reason freedom has risen from the grave is due to the delta scope limiting commuters to operating aircraft with 70 seats or less. the delta MEC was asked to give somekind of scope relief but they were not willing to send it to the pilot group for a vote.

I can imagine how those pilots were treated when they had to start flying with Mesa line pilots. That must have been something to see.

I wonder what the work environment would be like if TSA is successful in forcing GoJets to come back, just like Mesa and Freedom.

To this day, those Motherf&$^#rs believe they saved this company (I'm Mesa). ALPA views them ALL as "members in good standing", even though they'll have nothing to do with ALPA or its events. Before they got their Mesa badges, I remember seeing many Freedom IDs discreetly concealed by ties, pocket flaps, etc. Only thing I find as hateful as these "heroes" is the way ALPA handled the whole FreedomAir debacle. A lot of Freedom "A-listers" have left for greener pastures, but I still carry my A-list and will freely forward it to anyone who needs it...Never forget.

As long as you pay your ALPA dues, you are good with them. ALPA has short term memory....or no memory.

Freedom was put into the same collective bargaining agreement as Mesa, CCAir, and Air Midwest on March 18, 2003. The "Freedom A" pilots went back to their original senority numbers that they had at Mesa prior to the formation of Freedom -- made possible due to the fact that all Freedom A pilots were given a company leave of absence to fly at Freedom (an option available to ALL Mesa pilots up front, I might add).

Freedom has been operating 2 Beech 1900's for the past 1.5 yrs to keep the certificate viable.

Mesa Air Group has recently been awarded a code share with Delta Airlines for 50-seaters. Since Delta has scope prohibiting code shares with any airline that operates a/c above a certain number of seats (70+ or something), and Mesa Airlines operates the 86 seat CRJ, Mesa airlines is prohibited from flying for Delta. Freedom Airlines, however, is not.

Freedom Airlines is currently getting certification to fly the ERJ's. The pilots currently flying the ERJ at Mesa will begin being displaced to the Freedom Airlines certificate this fall.

Efforts by the Mesa MEC to get scope relief from the Delta MEC to continue to operate the ERJ under the Mesa certificate have been shut down by Delta pilots. So thanks to Delta-ALPA, Freedom will rise again.

Brotherhood my butt.

1. I don't. Personally, I wish you would've had the balls to strike. Guaranteed, everyone at F8 would have ended their LOA and came back to Mesa to stand in a picket line before scabbing. (IN FACT, this was the recommenation of the VP of Flight Ops (MF) given to the first class) But that would've meant a personal risk on your part . . . much easier to find a scape goat than to place blame on the MEC that's been doing the same crappy job for almost a decade now.

Get ready to be disappointed again in 2007 -- because you NEVER CLEANED HOUSE.

2. I never did. Cactus guys would trash talk us, but Mesa guys were 100% wimps. Sorry, but it's true.

3. I also carry the list. It is identical to the one being circulated by the Mesa guys when this was going down. Oh, except I took 10% of the A-listers names out, and inserted random Mesa pilots names instead (although a fair amount of LEC guys are on it). I like to hand this out to Cactus guys in my jumpseat - cuz they LOVE to find a reason to deny any Mesa pilot a seat.
