What does it take? Do you have to know someone? Does AirTran like ASA pilots? I know several have gone over.

Are any new hires getting 737? Where else does the 737 go beside SFO,LAX,LAS?

Would like to go where the grass is greener!

A good percentage of people that I know of are ASA personnel in the past several classes.
MCO, FLL, DFW, MDW, BWI, BOS, RSW, TPA, MIA off the top of my thick head. There are more.

Be patient...I had three letters of rec and it still took about 18 months to get the call. Somebody said there were 8,000 apps on file.

Based on the number of ASA folks coming over, I would assume they like ASA guys.

New hires are going to the 737 and the 717.

Good luck!

Going to an Air Inc seminar has been known to help.
Get someone you know to forward your resume.

New hires are going to 737.
The 737 goes to LGA, MDW, FLL, TPA, MCO, RSW, DEN, DFW, PHL, BWI, CAK, BOS, LAS, LAX, SFO. There may be more but that was all I could think of right now.

Hang out at the YMCA or venture into a men's bathroom at a public park after dark. You'll be able to network with Airtran pilots at those locations, especially in the Atlanta area. Good luck!!

Hey I did the YMCA thing and it did nothing for me. The mens restroom on the other hand....wait, which hand was it.

lol....Lear70..good luck man. happy for ya

Letters of recommendation seem to be the key or Airinc. I was pretty fortunate, my buddy walked my stuff in and I was in class within 3 months, my friend that I recommended, well its been almost 4 months and nothing yet, although the interview list has been pretty slow to be updated.

Nice AVATAR!

Thanks,

Yea..He was my pup. He was 12 years old and had to be put down on the 15th of Feb. His back went out and nerves were shot. He could not walk and was in a lot of pain. My mother is a retired vet and she did all she could. Never thought losing a dog would be so hard...Not easy but in a better place.

I'm sorry to hear for your loss.:( Dogs are really an important part of the pack/family. My uncle had a rott named Mack who had kinda of the same problem. Great dog. It's was a funny dog because he would growl at you when you left the house. Not when you came in but when you left. I guess that is true about that breed. I am definitely partial to Rotts, German Shepherds, and Doobies. They are inteligent, loyal, and will defend your family to the end. We have one of those breeds at home. I am looking at her right now and thinking about your current situation. Sorry bro and have a good night!! Go get a new cute little pup, it'll help!

Now back to Airtran bashing.

It took me over 1.5 years w/ only LORs. Other friends got called following the ATL job fair w/ 0 LORs after 3 months. I have been trying very hard to get a few more friends from ASA hired but now they are competeing w/ Delta pilots, too. I was told there are >8,000 applicants. My question is if AirTran only needs around 300 pilots for 2006 and you are backlogged w/ applicants who have been waiting for a few months then why continue to have job fairs and become further back logged w/ resumes?
Overall a wonderful place just waiting any day now for a new base to park all of the future planes.

Good luck.

I'd like to help anyone with a good attitude get on at airtran. Just call me at Uppercrust's mom's house. When me and my dog are done I'll get back to you.

Stephanie told me that she likes the job fairs because they can do an initial "interview" with people.

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but AirTran has started taking over a dozen current AirTran pilots with her to do "mini interviews" with potential new-hires at the career fairs and their recommendations DO count. If you have internal recommendations, bring them to the AIR, Inc seminar along with your resume and a copy of your online application.

Tell them you're SERIOUS about working for AirTran and then proceed to SHOW them. I've heard of a LOT of people getting hired this way.

Incidentally, if anyone is off the next couple of days, Women In Aviation started today in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel. Holiday Inn Select Opryland Airport has rooms for $65 plus tax per night and a shuttle that will run you over to the seminar. $110 I think for one day at the seminar, but you'll get a chance to do a face-to-face which can make a big difference.

Added bonus: if you're a guy, there's 3,000+ women running around the hotel. Hot and intelligent; a nice combination! :D

I think there's another AIR, Inc career fair coming up soon, too.

...."hot and intelligent"

Dude, I don 't know what beeyaches you been flyin with, but this description is the opposite of what I have come to know. Unless you get off on whatching lezzbo's, which I respect.

AirTran has stated mins of 500 turbine PIC. They're interviewing MUCH higher though (it seems) because of the quick upgrade time.

Airline5, you haven't seen my F/O this month obviously... she's HOT. About 5 foot 5, 110 pounds, works out EVERY night at the hotel, long dark brown hair with blonde highlights, WOW.

They obviously ALL can't be wicked cute, but we have 3 other female F/O's and one female CA I can think of right offhand at PCL that are all pretty hot. One recently upgraded and she models and does some acting on the side, lives in L.A.

Trust me, I helped recruit for Pinnacle at the last Women In Aviation in Nashville, and there are some EXTREMELY attractive women at these things... :)
