I think they just want someone who can get through training. I guess it depends on the quality of time, either training or freight.

What kind of multi time is it? For example, a freight pilot with 500 hours of multi in a texas lawn dart (Metroliner) is going to look much more attractive than an MEI with 500 hours of dual given in a seminole.

Very few CFI's have as much multi time as cargo pilots simply because most cargo pilots fly 80-100 hrs a month usually only in twins. Most cargo pilots are former CFI's aswell so they probably already had some mult time. When I got a job flying cargo in 402's about 1 year after 9/11 their were so few aviation jobs that the mins at this company were 1200/250 just to fly a 402. To answer the question airlines want both as long as they meet the mins.

The BIGGEST things that a regional looks for in a brand new 121 pilot are these: 1) can this person pass a 121 training course. 2) do I want to spend 4 days on the road with this person.

This is very true, one of the biggest factors to getting hired involves your personality and whether they think they could sit next to you for a four day trip.

Amen to that....and will they share the USA today.
