It's okay...there's just something about getting crossed up with a 10 hour student at 400' on the base to final turn with the power to idle and the stall warning horn whaling away...being able to go "yeah...I taught him that" :p

Seriously though....I'm worried about the first solo...I've got a guy that's CLOSE to being ready (if he'd get his medical, take the written and be a bit more confident on the radios, he'd be ready...) but aside from him, the rest of my students are cool...

Only had to do the screaming "MY PLANE" a few times so far...

Haha seems like you are having a good time!!!

I feel you on the solo guys, I remember my first one, man was I nervous...
Hope you have good life insurance, because they are gonna try to kill you over and over...

Thanks...I think.

I just keep thinking "they're all trying to kill me right now"...so far so good.

It is pretty cool seeing a guy go from "duh" to almost solo...love it.

Ahh the AGI... I took that test and passed a year and half ago, and still have the printed test results taped to my filing cabinet.

Anyone know how long these written results are good for?

The nearest FSDO is like 3 hours away (hence why it's on the filing cabinet), is there any easier way of getting the certificate without actually going there?

All knowledge tests are good for 2 years. The other way of getting a certificate is to have a DPE send it in. But he will then charge you - usually between $20 - $50.

Unless your students are big part of his income, then he'll do it for free ;)

Just a little extra info on the whole "what's it good for question". If you ever plan on acting as a Chief or Assistant Chief Pilot at a Part 141 ground school you will legally need an AGI for certain classes. Having said it, this might be one of the most over-looked rules in the instructing realm. (Right behind that whole thing about the two dollar sweep hand clock in the airplane working for IFR flights) Have fun.

That was sooooooooo informative. :) I don't see how people survive an oral longer than 1 hour...

Sorry Greg, I guess I missed the CFI part of your question.....

Don't know much about his CFI rides, but I know that for MEI and CFII he's just the same as he's with other rides, but he does some of the flying.
So the answer is...the same, if you know your stuff and are ready to do it really fast, you'll be ok.
