$15.00 off of a turkey (better than nothing) and an (still) unsettled contract!

Merry Christmas!

Told the majority of the company after the fact that we were raising money for some sick kids and getting donations from employees. Yeah, most of us found out after they put out an announcement thanking everyone for their donations.

Told everyone in the company that there was no official company Christmas party but that some employees were have a get together at a local (to our HQ) bar. Only to find out after the fact that the company gave away prizes and gifts for the few who turned out.

They seem to have a problem accepting the fact that a large number of employees don't live near HQ, and thus ignore them when it comes to company communications.

Sorry, just a little bitter. I shouldn't be though, they were kind enough to provide me a hotel for my day off on Christmas out of base because they couldn't get me back.

Still don't know our schedule for Jan. Sorry fam, don't know if I'll be home for new years or not. Corporate is at home for the holidays.

Got a $1000 bonus and the company had a party/dinner at a banquet hall. Part 91 with 7 pilots and 35 total employees.

We're in the WRONG Industry

Marvin Windows and Doors drops $50 million on employees

By Ryan Bakken

Herald Staff Writer

WARROAD, Minn. -- Sarah Washnesky, like 3,573 other Marvin Windows and Doors employees, landed a hefty bonus check Friday. She also landed something more valuable.
"I'm getting an engagement ring," she shouted as she approached friends standing in line to cash their checks at Security State Bank.
She called boyfriend Mike Flick to inform him of the profit-sharing amounts they each had received.
"He said, ‘It looks like you're getting your engagement ring,'" Washnesky said. "He's getting a gun, and I'm getting a ring. We're both happy."
The employees here, in Grafton, N.D., and in Baker, Ore., are sharing a record $50.3 million bonus, an average of $14,000 per person. The bonus is 2 1/2 times the previous high of $20 million in 1988. Individual amounts are set by a formula that considers salary and longevity.
For the likes of long-time employee Catherine Kaml, the bonus is a half-year's salary. "Most years, the bonus is about the same as two paychecks," Kaml said.
The 5,000 employees, families and interested observers on hand erupted with spontaneous joy when CEO and Chairman Jake Marvin announced the amount. All that was audible was "fifty million." The rest of the amount -- $298,662 -- was drowned out by the noisy celebration. The scene was a mix of laughter, whooping, hugs and tears.

When you're in a union, you work within your contract. Most pilots refuse to perform any functions outside of their contract. If at Christmas you would like Management to provide you with a bonus, write it into your next contract. If you're looking for extra-contractual "goodwill," the question is, did the pilots all organize and chip in to buy something for Management? Or does this goodwill only go one way?
