What causes a lost medical?

What I never understood is that the medical application form that asks about your medical history is based on an honesty policy. The Aeromedical Examiners do not follow up with the information you report via your medical records. I know a guy who was bipolar manic depressive and who did not state that on the application. Sure enough he got a 2nd class medical. Thats kind of creepy!

aviation related certificates are too often just a money transition.
 
Poor spelling may also lead to losing a medical. I saw this in the FAR's somewhere, but just can't put my "fingure" on exactly where it is. I must be "loosing" my mind.
 
Admitting to alcoholism is a sure way to lose your medical.
Speaking of alcohol...don't you just hate it when you get up in the morning, fire up the computer and go through some of the posts you wrote, 3/4's of the way down a bottle of Bacardi.

It's like, "Dude, what's mine say?"
