I wonder how many Flops Pilots will now be checking bags on their way to and from work since it will cost the company more money on some airlines???? Should be another revision to your SOPS on day 1 and 8 travel??

Does anyone else use these packing cubes? I bought these a while ago and they work great. I'm amazed how much stuff you can fit into them and highly recommend them.

I don't use the cubes but I do use a large compression bag for most of my clean clothes. Works very well and frees up more space for the bottles of wine. As an added bonus when the bags are sealed they are effectively waterproof.

I just bought the 26" PNS bag and the laptop bag from Luggage Works (the one they sell at Charlie's locker). I guess we'll see when I start IOE next week if the 26 incher will "fly" or not.

I've carried the 26" PNS and a standard size flight bag for 9 years. Total number of times forced to check the big bag? TWO. Once by Air Frog in Nice (and they ripped it which is tough to do to a PNS) and once on Continental when I was the last guy to the gate on a flight home. As for the Thousands Standing Around and liquids, I keep to the 3-3-1 rule but have only been forced to pull them out of the bag while in uniform by our friends at HPN.

And good luck with IOE.

How many uses do you get out of 1 bag? I've heard some people say they only get 5 or so uses from a space saver bag before they develop a hole.

I've been using the same bag for 6 months now. You have to buy the good ones; the Eagle Creek bag I have been using is very sturdy and I think I would have a hard time putting a hole in it. You can get cheap ones for a few dollars but I wouldn't expect it to last more than a few tours. Mine was only about $15 at REI and its still going strong.
