He did genuinely look scared about the effects of the proposed ATP requirements. Not the first time I've heard him talk about it either. Other than that same old story for the 10mins I was there.

There's a whole list of things to attract new pilots into the industry. Pay and benefits are not on it.

Apparantly ipads are being tested at ASA. I imagine the cost savings from shipping, printing, OJI claims, etc off set the initial costs. Heck, add $500 in each check for a month and let everyone run out and get one. I've got the Jepp app and all the co. manuals/training material on mine and it is AMAZING!!! Bring a 1.5 lb tablet to work, or a 40 lb bag!!!!!

That is because ASA/XJT combined would require 1,000 more pilots to fly the same amount of block hours as we have now. Only downside for us is everyone would be flying 15 hour 4 day trips due to the new rules so everyone will be on min days off just to get 75 hrs. XJT has run scenario schedules with the new rules, they are very scared.

Even more reason the number 1 priority is for trip rigs to protect us from this!

If that is what the future of this job will be, I am out as soon as I find something worthwhile.

BTW. What exactly about the new regs means we can only do 15 hour 4 days?
