What a mistake on 10/28 in ATL, Genius??

I heard a checkairman in the lounge say the other day in low vis his IOE student decided to follow the chevron and he had to take control. He didn't look too please........

Have you even seen it? Do you have any idea what we are talking about? If not, how about keeping your comments to yourself until you do see it and see how close those chevrons are to the high speed exit lights.

three days a week bud. the chevrons are about 3x as wide as taxiway centerlines. maybe u would get confused, but that not saying much. and what about low vis landings. follow the lights dipsh!t
 
I've operated on the runway and have not had any problems. ATC informs you what taxiway to use as far as the two parellell N/S taxiways, and usually to hold short of 27L/9R at R-7 (I think that's the one). If you look at the airport diagram before landing, you should be aware of the bridge and markings. Not really a problem as I see it. But, if you think it's an accident waiting to happen, fill out a RIF or NASA report. You can even call the FSDO or the Tower Chief.

It's all preventative measures.

I agree with the painting of the shoulders. OF COURSE follow the lead off lines...BUT what IF some poor bastard went off the bridge. Then we'd all be saying "why weren't the shoulders painted" or something.

Same reason KLAS has wavey lines painted on the parallel taxiways for RWY 19. To PREVENT.

I haven't been told which parallel to take...so I taxi like I drive...I take the right hand side

I haven't been to LAS, but the wavey lines aren't a mirage in the 110 degree heat are they? ;)

Actually...come to think of it, they're only wavy part of the time...usually after a long overnight with a good happy hour.:beer:
 
I haven't operated in there since I flew cargo in a god forsaken Metro III many many moons ago. But they're still there...saw em on a jump seat recently.
 
Maybe they need some spike strips with a sign that says "spikes damage tires".

C'mon, Hoser! You're about as old as I am. We old farts don't see so well anymore, and that darn thing looks like a taxiway to me every time I come in. Watch out, y'all.

Red/white is "non-standard" airport markings in this case. ALPA already suggested that to the City. Take a look at the latest ALPA magazine that arrived in the mail last week. ALPA takes credit for a lot of improvements in aviation including the development of standard airport markings and signage. Funny how they are now asking for something that is not standard...but then they would already know the standards since they claim to be the reason that we have them now...

Yes red/white would be non standard, but so is a runway that crosses 19 lanes of traffic.

Ok, then ATL should have just remained with 4 runways and continued to let the airlines deal with delays in the air instead of coming up with a creative way to build a 5th runway, while completely land locked, which will help save airlines a ton of money if used correctly??

I'm guessing if you are ATL based, you'll be gratefull for runway 10/28 when you are late arriving on your last leg and have a choice to either hold or accept 10/28...
 
they shoud just plant grass so it looks like the rest of the parts you dont want to exit onto.
