The simple answer is, whoever hires you.
Based on what I’m hearing from my friends I think ONT might be the best domicile we got!
Alright, the real question is: How Sr. is LAX @ FedEx? Can a newhire get it? What equipment is there?
Hmmm, well, if you won million dollars would you want it in 10s or in 20s?
Sorry, don’t mean to pick on you and I do understand your concern.
You're right, it’s definitely possible to get ONT as a newhire at UPS; I did and there seem to be a new class going this way every few weeks or so. First year pay is better at Purple but if you want to pick up some JA assignments you can ease the pain, but it’ll be painful no matter what (tons of JA flying for new guys – they start calling from the bottom of the seniority list – but remember JA flying here is voluntarily! You don’t want it? Don’t take it!)
What do your trips look like? Are they all nighters?
Don’t know much about Fedex domicile in LAX but ONT is awesome! Great domicile, very cool and laid back pilots to fly with, and you move up very quickly here. I had a hard line 5 months after finishing IOE (my hardline was pretty “crappy” but I "improved" it with trip trades).
I don’t live on the West coast so I commute and bid lines with commercial deadheads on both ends and it has worked great so far.
Based on what I’m hearing from my friends I think ONT might be the best domicile we got! Of course the other domiciles are pretty good too but I think as a newbie, your QoL will improve the fastest here. Of course, if you go to ANC, I’m sure you’ll be able to hold a hard line before you even finish your training..
Either way, you can’t go wrong with any of the two companies.
