Name three companies that have been around twenty years, have not filed bankruptcy and are making a profit today, have been the launch customer for four new aircraft and have had its stock triple in the last year. (I know, I know run on sentence). I'm not proud of our contract nor our QOL by any means. Maybe Mesa just went on a diet before everyone else and is now in a position to take advantage of others short sightedness. The way I look at is there is only one way for us to go. Up. I'm not high on the kool aid however, with the state of the industry (I'm talking airlines not fractionals) it's a pretty secure place to be while the seas settle down. We have a great group of pilots that have contract negotations beginning next year (great possibilities as long as we are united and are not greedy). Yes, we do bicker among ourselves much the same way that brothers spat with each other. However, we are family and families need to stick together when tough times come. Our illustrious CEO may not be loved but is resourcful. Talk is of expansion, stand alone operations and narrow bodies all of which is possible (with labor ratification of course). Airline analysts consistintly use Southwest, The New US Air, and Mesa in the same sentence. This whole industry needs to think outside the 1900-2001 box. If everyone would quit looking for instant gratification, have patience, stop blaming others for their troubles and get their heads up and look a little further down the road I think the storm clouds will part. I'll bet on the tortise over the hare any day.
