Delta comes to Craven County
January 30,2007

Delta Airlines will begin service from Craven Regional Airport, officials announced this morning.

The air carrier will have two flights per day to Atlanta, becoming the second airline at the airport. The flights are scheduled to begin May 6, with the first outbound flight set for May 7.

Delta had been flying from Kinston but pulled out, and recently added service at Jacksonville’s Albert Ellis Airport.

The airline joins US Airways, which has seven daily flights to its hub in Charlotte, at Craven Regional.

The Craven airport has two air carriers for the first time since Midway Airlines went bankrupt shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

New Bern, NC. Wow. And that gives even more overlap to the possible US/DL takeover. I bet the local politicians there in New Bern want the EXTRA flights, and more choice for their constituents. Makes sense, right? You bet it does! Have a great one and say hi to Kooter and Kletus for me, you dipstick! Pet Flash the dog too.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I see it's the "small" CRJ. Are they going to be weight limited on that 6000 runway? Lots of marines with sea bags to carry in EWN...

I wonder if the Piedmont folks will work the ASA flights or will they have seperate people to work the station?

Funny they said "Delta Airlines" flies there and ISO when we all know it's actually ASA. You should know better General.

The small CRJ is the same as the normal CRJ. It just has less seats. Is a Dash 100 with 30 seats, less capable than a Dash 100 with 37 seats. I think not. Now if were talking about a Dash 200, then you got something.

I was not aware that ASA (or whoever) had 30 seat CRJs... Only that it was something called a CRJ100. Sorry I'm not up on all my CRJ varients.

Even so, 30 seats in this market ain't anything. We fill 50 seat Dashes and 70 seat jets pretty routinely.

Blood shot out my nose and I lost four IQ points reading this... which leaves me with a net -1 IQ. What are you talking about?

It also said US Airways instead of PDT. Regardless, I think the troops will love the RJ rather than the Dash. I am sure ASA has had plenty of experience taking troops, like at Fayatteville, NC.

And, did you hear the news Wsurf? You were WRONG about DL and US getting together. Didn't you say it would happen? Was I right? I think I was. Say it!

Delta Creditors to Back Airline's Plan

By Harry R. Weber, AP Business Writer Delta Creditors to Support Airline's Stand-Alone Reorganization Plan; US Airways Withdraws Bid

ATLANTA (AP) -- Delta Air Lines Inc.'s official creditors committee said Wednesday it will support Delta's stand-alone reorganization plan, prompting US Airways to withdraw its hostile bid to buy Delta.
Delta's committee said in a statement its decision was reached after a lengthy review of both Delta's proposal and US Airways' proposal, which the committee said it rejected.

And I love this board and enjoy it very much. But, as you know, I still lift weights, ride bikes, and spend plenty of quality time with my wife. But, I always have to check in with "da boys" on FI. You understand that, right? Now, go catch some crawdads off your dock.

ROLFMAO. <--- I'm gonna leave it like this, what with me being a Dash driver and all. But hey, acronyms aren't my thang.

In my best Rodney Dangerfield voice, "Hey General! Cheer up, will ya?"

I really think General Lee has some wierd fasination with me!!! Bike riding and lifting weights kinda scares me too!!!!

Delta coming to EWN!!!! He is getting all hot and worked up!!! I better start locking my front door when Delta comes to EWN!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't you say the Delta pilots would NEVER ratify the concession deal and would NEVER budge on scope? Didn't you say it would never happen? Were we right? I think we were. Say it!

Thats funny...they can't even get us (PDT) out on time let alone a non-USAir carrier. I would imagine "Delta", ASA or whomever it is, will hire their own staff. When Corporate Express Midway Connection was in EWN years ago they had their own employees, counter, and bag/crew room area.

General Lee just has a weird fascination with things he can PUMP:

Iron.
The pedals on his bike.
His wife.
His theories.
Oberstar.

He'll be along shortly to tell me I shouldn't be so bitter about not getting hired by Delta.

Love ya, General Lee. *smooches*

I never had a problem with the EWN station... Must be a recent development.

Don't Piedmont folks work ASA/Comair (whatever) at PHF?

I think I left my hat in the PHF crew room. Anyone find it?

The DL stuff wasnt worked by the PDT ground staff when I was based there, but maybe it has changed.

Come on man... if you are going to spend all your time on the computer at least do some research. There is already RJ service to New Bern.

And if ASA is so good at taking troops out of FAY why have we had a bunch push overs from the Delta counter the last few times I've been there? You know those bags are supposed to be marked as "heavy" right?

Anyone else find it funny that Morehead City is in Craven County?

The best part is talk to Seymour (sp) Johnson and Cherry Point Approach. Yeah, you try saying that with a straight face on day 4 of a trip.

That's so true! You should see the face of a new FO when you check in with Seymour Johnson!!!

Delta desides to come into Hilton Head and New Bern during a bid for a hostile takeover where route overlap was one of Delta's purposed blocks to merger. They didn't make Hilton Head work before, and they were unsuccessfull in Kinston. Watch these go away or fail.
