We can get an NPRM for age 60-65 0ut there but you guys don't think its important enough to get one for the friggin 8 hour overnights. Good jaaab guys with hot avatars. Your life is really meaningful! I SALUTE you! Brotherhood man! Good job!
Chill. If you think it's the old fart pilots driving the age 60 NPRM, you're dreaming. The government doesn't give a crap about Cap'n Codger's lost retirement.
They are just getting our rules in line with ICAO. Soon, we'll have a universal ATP (we would already have it if the Europeans hadn't tried to prove how smart they were by cooking up the JAA exams) so Sahib can come over here and fly for Skybus.
I believe it's as simple as that.
As for the 8 hour rule, now you're going to cost the airlines some money. No way the FAA will do anything about it.TC
Do foreign carriers have woman pilots? Don't recall hearing any female voices in Europe or Asia? Or is just America where we recruit the split tails?
Yup they sure do. Not as many as we have though. I was on an Air China 747-400, a few months back, that had a female capt. She spoke very good english and was actually kinda cool. I chatted her up while waiting for the hotel van.
I also did primary instruction of 2 females that now work for Iberia and one of them was hot

I believe the change in age rule is for those who lost their retirement to management bonuses. Instead of fixing the problem, we can't because our labor unions have lost all power.
I don't believe the hype about the 8 hour rule costing the company money. And you know what? I don't really care if it does. Some years ago we had no overnights less than 10 hours and we were making money. The problem lies with the loss of power at the union level. Its business as usual for the company, they will continue to chip away at our profession by attempting to lower costs. Problem is we stopped doing our part of the business as usual at the union headquarters because we have allowed them to manipulate us.
Dont forget about 16hr duty days. Safety at its finest.

Well that makes her a good pilot....
