No, I think you pointed the finger at yourself.

If any airline with over $1 bil in scheduled revenue service is to be called a Major, then you would also have to call Mesa, Comair, ASA, Eagle, etc. Majors, too.
Well then they ARE, what do you want from me? I didn't come up with the definition. A 1961 MGA and a 2004 Corvette are both defined as "sports cars", even if you wouldn't normally attempt to compare them.

It appears your real point is that AirTran and JetBlue don't "rate". My question is... Why?

Oh, wait, I have "issues" that be needin' "tissues". I guess my second question is why are you picking a fight over something this unimportant?

ALPA will never allow that to happen, Ty. ALPA made sure that they had the very attractive name of "small jet operator" attacthed to those carriers, regardless of what revenue they bring, number of pax or pilots.

Maybe you should re-read the string from the beginning. All will be made clear. I was simply stating that, although JB and AirTran (who I happen to work for) may technically be "majors" I don't think that it meets the definition of what many pilots mean when they say "Major Airline".

Again, since you seem to have missed it: One domicile, One or two Aircraft types, none larger than a 737, a thousand pilots and only a so-so pay scale . . . not quite what I think of when the word "Major Airline" is brought up.

No widebodies, no first class, no foreign operation (other than the Caribbean), no meal service, no crew meals, blah, blah, blah . . ..

Again, I am not knocking these companies, far from it. I am happy to be working at one of them. I'm just commenting that to me, and I think many pilots, the word "Major" means things other than just $1 bil in scheduled service". Obviously, you disagree. How nice for you.

Over and out.

I did read the thread.

It didn't escape my notice that you work for AirTran. I have read things you've posted before, you know.

I most definitely disagree with you, though I still don't get why you need to be snippy about it. ("Tissues"? "How nice for you"?) Please point to where I made any comment that was deserving of your attitude.

Never mind, this isn't worth it. :D

Too late on the deletion...I already saw what you posted. And yes, I checked my dork-o-meter, and it was pegged in the red.

Going back to playing hide and go, er, seek.

Maybe someday I can be as cool as you, then. Hoping, hoping, hoping....

Praying, even.

Too bad, I forgot to replace the 9V in my dork-o-meter.

Sorry, Juvat, I read IP's original response, too... And it was quite appropriate.

Funny that you're responding, 7+ hrs later, to something that was only posted for ten minutes (look at the original time of post and time of edit) and YOU are calling HIM/HER a "dork".

Welcome to dorkville, Juvat. How's that "L" on your forehead look in the mirror? Guess he should've been REALLY witty and said something like "would you like some cheese with that whine"? Noone has ever thought of something like THAT before. Mark Twain would be floored by a wit like you.

How original.

I thought you had to declare bankruptcy to legally be a major airline?

(j/k)

And we all wonder why airline pilots are losing ground.... No respect, lower pay.... Give it a break.. Y'all are acting like a bunch of truck drivers.

Major this boys..... Is Chalks (sp) a Major ?? or a minor...??
