I saw a 747 SP in vegas today on the signature ramp that had a picture of figure skaters on the tail and the livery on the side of the plane said "Ballet san jose" the tail #n747FU

Totally lame and g$y paint job. Does anyone know who the heck this is????

I suppose you're right sqw. Why do work when you can get others to do it for you. Guess I bit on USA's request...Oh well...live and learn.

Ultra,
I didnt want to give your moronic reply any credit by responding but I had to. I found that easily on flightaware.com but I am not a big enough airplane geek to know who the heck that LLC is. Just thought I would throw out my query on F.I.

Thanks....

Another one

Well, since that one was easily handled, how about this one: There is a 747, 767, 737, and at least one Gulfstream 4 or 5 maybe that are parked on the GA side that have a series of blue stripes on them (all same paint jobs). I haven't been up close enough to catch a registration number, but I'll try my next time through Vegas. Anyone have any info on them?

If they look like this 767, they're owned by Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Venetian and Sands casinos. A couple years ago, I used to workout at 24 Hour Fitness with his kids' tutor/nanny.

The UAE had a nice looking -400 over on the west side recently. Any doubt where your gas money is going?

So what was the reason boeing made the 747sp? was it supposed to be a domestic route 747? Anyone know some history?

Theres no better web site for 747SP fans than this one http://www.747sp.com/

The 747SP is my favorite airliner after the Convair 880. A tremendous resource is the third book in the Great Airliners series, Boeing 747SP (ISBN 0-9626730-7-2). Unfortunately, used copies of this book run in excess of 200 bucks (makes me glad I got mine when it came out for $26.00) since it's out of print.

I am trying to get my client to ditch his BBJ-1 and invest in one of the ex-Saudi 747SP's. It will fly forever, get into and out of relatively short strips, carry enough stores to operate for months and has room for an extra APU which can be used for long term ground operations (so the Flight Engineer can watch DVD's, take showers and keep the aircraft warm in Siberia during stays). I can only hope.
