Hey guys,

I’m into my instrument training and was just wondering if there are any good aviation related weather websites out there. I live about 25 minutes from the airport so it would be nice to be able to check conditions from the house before I leave.

Thanks

There are several good weather sites that I recommend. As a matter of fact, I give all my students a list of weather websites:

http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/
(has an excellent JAVA TOOL that you can use for any weather product. My favorite use is for Pireps. Just select an area on the map and it will show you all the pireps.)

http://cdm.aviationweather.gov/cip/
(this one is great if especially for instrument pilots in the fall, winter and spring)

http://www.duat.com/

http://www.cmpsolv.com/los/sunset.html
(this site isn't really about weather but gives the times for civil twilight and night)

http://www.intellicast.com/

I hope this helps. There are obviously many MANY weather sites out there. These are the ones that I find extremely useful, expecially the first website listed.
I hope these help! Good luck with your training!
