From the people I've talked to who've flown the Haj (pre-9/11) it is an experience they will never forget. They are members of a quasi-exclusive club.

It is also an experience to be avoided. Cook fires in the aisles. People squatting and taking a dump in the mid-galley. Men throwing their plates on the floor when they are done so the female FA's can clean them up. People eating on the floor because they've never seen a table.

Culture shock is someone from Alabama moving to New Jersey. This is apparently something VERY different... TC
