Obviously I've missed the point with my reply. Pointing out the pitfalls of the corporate sector of the industry has hit a nerve. It is true that like airline flying corporate has it's UP's and down's, however, from my viewpoint I seen more of the bad than the good.
Safety concerns, discrimination, and secretive department managers/chief pilots are the norm at many flight departments. These issues are poorly address and for fear of reprisals it leaves the victim alone to either pursue new employment or deal with the problem as best s/he can. To deal with it properly gets one canned and ultimately blacklisted in the industry.
Choice for who one goes to work for has a lot to do with the equation. The individuals who went to work for US Air made the choice and unfortunately are paying a price. But does that mean that the corporate industry is waived of liability in deciding not to hire them because they fear they'll leave and return to the airlines or that they maybe more qualified than the department manager or chief pilot?
My view has come from experience and observing the behavior of both the corporate world and the airlines. Safe to say I'm secure in my position and can speak my mind.
Shag_McNasty, with your time you should be the PIC not the F/O -- now that wasn't fair was it, I shouldn't say stuff like that without knowing.
