"Why is this issue not read more often than a PFT thread or a SCAB thread?
Come on guys, this is important. Contact your senators."
I've asked the same thing several times in various threads. Topics like "which regional do you hate most" gets 4000+reads, this one is still only around 1200.
Cabotage is probably the most serious threat to all of our careers out there right now. This issue doesn't care if you work at mainline, a regional, Jet Blue, or SWA.
Here is a quote from purple haze from the cabotage thread in the "majors" section. Thought I'd bring it over here as well (hope you don't mind me doing this Purple haze....)
Everybody call you senators......Looks like this may be up for a vote soon.
"Monday, Nov. 17
Senate Republicans are positioned to call for a cloture vote on the FAA Reauthorization Bill (H.R. 2115) today at 5:30 p.m. EST. A 60-vote majority is required to invoke cloture, which would end debate and bring a bill to the floor for a vote.
While all ALPA's Government Affairs lobbyists (including Captain Woerth) are on the Hill continuing to press Senate Democrats to hold firm on their position on this bill, we need EVERY member to once again contact their senators and request they not support the cargo cabotage provision the Reauthorization Bill contains. It is especially important for Tennessee residents to contact Senators Frist and Alexander. Their contact information is below:
To call Tennessee Senator Bill Frist, who is the Senate Majority Leader, and tell him that you do not like the exportation of American jobs, the numbers are below:
Office of Senator Bill Frist
461 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
202-224-3344
Senator Lamar Alexander's contact numbers are below:
Office of Senator Lamar Alexander
SH-302
Washington, DC 20510
202-224-4944
Because the vote is imminent, only calls to senators' Washington, D.C. offices will be effective at this time. To find contact information for your senators, navigate to www.senate.gov and use the "Find Your Senators" link in the middle of the page. It is vital that every member take a few minutes to call their senators NOW (even if you already contacted them last week) and let them know how you feel about allowing the exportation of U.S. pilot jobs to foreign carriers."
