Hey ALL,

How do you go about applying to Walmart??

I know how you go to the nearest location and sit at the computer terminal but I'm doubtful the aviation side looks at to many apps.:-)))))

Thanks in advance

What are you talking about Hugh? Have you even looked into the flight department? Just a bit curious if this is a joke or not. The vast majority of the people flying there are very happy .. The schedule is among the best in corporate flying. I would like to know where you got your info from.

don't waste your time... I am pretty sure they are flooded with resumes, etc, and you probably will be waiting a longggg time to get that call for the initial phone interview.

They are bringing down between 13 to 15 for an early July interview and only 3 positions are "open", however I believe they are trying to get approval to hire a 4th guy. (so my intel. has told me) You really need a current Wally mart pilot to walk the resume in with a lor.

The pay/benefits are not very good considering the company profits..

Hugh is way out in right field on this one but they still are not very good in my opinion when all things are considered.

they seem to run the department as an "airline" versus a coporate flight department.

Pay isn't so good I hear, but you don't need a lot to live OK in Arkansas... Also, it wouldn't be too bad to zip around the country in Lear 31s and 35s - speed demons... Just don't eat too much because it's a tight fit... Are the 35s EFIS/FMS equipped like the 31s?

Unless they have totally changed their operation, upgrades/pay raises are not based on seniority. Look inside one of their lears (not the Global) if you get a chance. Money not spent on pilots or equipment. Interiors are ratty. They treat their planes and pilots like they treat all their employees. Check out the class action suit that includes over 1 MILLION employees. You guys scream about scab pilots and PFT but would consider working here. Amazing. Good luck.

I have received a lot of information from various people that suggests that changing your gender, your race, or better yet both, can help immensely in your chances of being hired. I can't say that this is 100% true, but it does jive with an experience I had over twenty years ago in broadcasting where the company executive came right out and told me that I was the wrong color to get the job.

I can only surmise that this current litigious climate, particularly in view of the class action suit and the history of so-called "discrimination" suits at WalMart has exacerbated this trend in hiring practices.

A broadcasting job 20 years ago, now that's experience that would allow you to make an educated and insightfull commentary...

Actually, this is about the only accurate statement made about the flight department so far. We don't spend money on the interiors unless it becomes a safety of flight issue. This is I'm sure to keep our cost down. The upgrade/pay raise situation has changed dramatically also in case you're wondering.

As far as the equipment, we spend money like no other as far as avionics.

We're getting multi-function displays with full weather down links in the aircraft. They sure don't have to do that, but they are.

They are working to rearrange ALL of the avionics in the aircraft for standardization purposes. Again, they don't have to but they are. Bottom line our management see to it that we have all of the tools necessary to do our jobs, plus some. If ANYONE would like to discuss any other facts further, feel free to PM me.

Keep in mind when reading anything timebuilder has posted in regards to the Wal-Mart flight department that he has applied multiple times and has been turned down because he doesn't meet the minimum qualifications. Never has he posted specific numbers or sources for the information in his posts when he was challenged to by others.

In regards to the gender/minority issue, the department has maintained it's minority/majority ratio for as long as I've been here (which is quite a while). As has been posted multiple times in the past, the jobs are given to the most qualified individuals. The only real preferential practice in hiring is candidates who are personally known to current pilots in the department.

If you have any specific questions, PM me and I'll do my best to answer them.

Take it any way you want..

but the simple fact is that every large flight department would love to fill the minority box a bit more...not that it means hiring unqualified pilots...everyone knows this, its just not spoken out loud!

Just the way it is, use it to your advantage if you can...

Everytime I see a female swinging gear at NetJets I just laugh because there are slews of six figure corp jobs she could EASILY score an interview with just by faxing a resume!!

thems the breaks.
