Who would have thought in a Republican controlled congress with a Republican president, we'd still have record illegal immigration. Too many politicians are in bed with the big businesses that use the cheap labor. Don't blame the Mexicans for wanting a better life, blame your elected officials for being ineffective.

Lets look at a small central Texas ranching town...say for example....hmmmm....Crawford, Tx.

Since the majority of the 18 yr olds leave as soon as they can, who is left to do the ranch work? I'll bet all the local ranchers sans one, hire illegals to help out with the ranch work that needs to get done.

Even in my upper middle class neighborhood, we never have the local teens knocking on the door to see if they can do our yard work....its always the hispanic guy ( I won't call him illegal because honestly, I don't know or care if he is). And he does a First Class job at a nice price.

My kid used to cut my grass ....until he went to college. Now Miguel does it. If Tommy Smith wants to cut my lawn, he better do as good a job as Miguel does and at a lower price or....he won't be in the running.

That's part of the problem. We complain American's don't want to do the work, but, in reality, Americans don't want to PAY someone to do the work. We'd rather have a CHEAP labor source to do our dirty work. Immigrants will work for slave wages, and people like Tejas and other businesses are more than willing to pay them those crappy wages. Every time I hear someone whine about who will do our jobs I envision an enormous indentured servant force who never has any hope of rising above their station. Too many people want them here simply to mow lawns, build houses, or wait tables. To listen to them talk, however, it's all about equality and fairness. BS. They just want a cheap labor force.

If we round up all illegals...

The fact is that Americans want it all:

$29.00 DVD players at Walmart = Good
Methods used by Walmart to obtain said DVD player = Bad

Make up your minds.

Deport all illegals = $6.00 heads of lettuce.

It's pay now or pay later. Can't have it both ways.

This came from an e-mail sent to me and I did not verify it's legitamacy, so please take with a grain of salt.

I know it is from the LA Times but since it supports the right wing maybe you'll read it anyway:

"From the L.A Times

1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million people in L.A.County).

(All 10 from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.

The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was a NET
(after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University].

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens. "

If anybody thinks prices won't rise if these illegals are given amnesty you are fooling yourself.

If they are given amnesty and citizenship, they will soon after be asking for more money and/or unionizing. Why? They will no longer be afraid of their "illegal" status and the threat of deportation.

Employers will get rid of them in favor of a "new" source of cheap labor, and we will then have an even greater drain on our welfare programs as they use their new-found citizenship and the "rights" that go with it.

I got this in an email last week and I think it is hillarious.
