Not from what I have been told. Its more a demographics mix formula. Not too many of a single type of background in any given class.

Beyond that I think it is simply in the order you were cleared to train.

The 11/12 class has 15/25 military pilots. All 767ER NYC.

Guys and Gals. DAL is very careful on who they put in to what class. There is a reason that some of you are waiting. It is not a bad thing. They want the class to meld together. The seniority sucks for you but the company could care less. They will fill all of the slots that they need filled. Plain and simple.
I know that military guys were getting in sooner. Reason for that is they are a bigger flight risk than regional pilots. IE more connections at FedEx and UPS, but I think that has simmered down some.
Needless to say, there is no point system in the pool. It has to do with how they want the classes made up. Either way the number that they are looking at next year is 625. That is what the SVP stated yesterday in a town hall meeting. There will be lots behind all of us.The hiring will continue for some time.

Does Delta possibly rank their candidates? Thus, first-in, does not necessarily mean first-out?

I'll jump in...Interview Date probably doesn't mean anything. I interviewed in Oct 1998 and started class in Jul 1999. Most of the other pilots in my class interviewed in Jan-Mar 1998.

I don't know how they decide.

I wish you success!
William

They started with a number at 650-700. He stated the number 625. I would venture to guess that they trimmed the estmate in the last few weeks because of fuel prices. They have stated that they will park 88 if need be. IE they will hire only what they need. They do not want to furlough.
I would venture to guess that it will be over 625. This year was to be 200 MAX, and it will be almost double that. Problem is that the school house is jammed full of internal upgrades and new hires. Even if they wanted to hire more, I am not sure that they could get everyone through.

Got a call for the Jan. 7 class today. Just over three weeks after being cleared to train.

Anybody have an idea how often they have to dip into the alternates for a class because of people not being able to make it?

Do you know how many they have hired so far this year??

Lat time I checked it was 332. I will look later this weekend and post the numbers. Expect with the last three classes of the year to be near or over 400

What kind of quantity and quality of time are they looking for? I'm pushing 7000 TT, 4000 of it 121 PIC. Check airman and 4 yr. A little over a 1000 in the 737.
