I put in resumes at five different regionals last Tuesday and still no calls. How long does it normally take?

Weeks some times months. It is not like filling an application out at McDonalds. Although you could make more money the first year at McDonalds.

Wow....waited a whole week huh?

Dude...chill. The job's not that great anyway....trust me. Never thought I'd be one to say that...but there it is.

Well you work longer and harder at McDonalds so you should get paid more.

WOW....

Please don't work for the airlines. We don't need anymore with that attitude.

I'm not really all that excited about working for a reginal but I was just curious how long it normally takes to get a call. It seems to me that if there is such a shortage of pilots and they have reduced there minimums significatly that I would hear something fairly soon. Just curious thats all.

You've got king air time I see. Do you realize that you could get a king air job somewhere where your home all the time making about the same as a 10 year regional Capt makes?

I hope PSA wasn't one of the places you applied to. Your wasting your time here.

I currently fly a Kingair for an unappriciative B@st@rd I am home alot and there are alot of extra non flying duties required, I am $10,000 below the low side of the scale and I'm only getting about 300 hours a year. I know what to expect from the regionals because I read all the b!tchi!ng on this site. I am ready to make the switch from corporate to 121 as a career choice I'm not getting any younger and need to be logging more time per year.

You'll get calls soon. It just takes them time to work through the stack. Some places are looking harder than others.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting antsy and just ready to move on to something new and different.

If you paid for your training it comes with recomendations built in. JOKE! Like the one guy said, they are probably overrun with apps, it may take a bit to sort through the fodder.

Send your resumes through airlineapps.com if you haven't already. Eagle and Comair will offer you an interview in a matter of hours.

HR is a funny beast! I sincerely believe they are the most inefficient and incompetent department of any business. Just look at some of the job postings by major companies and you will understand what I mean. I would be willing to bet that the people screening your resume do not have a clue what the hell a king air is or what one looks like. Most HR people are screening for jobs they have never done and have no clue about. The only thing they are sure of is what is written for a job description. Mostly you have to be patient and they will call. Some call with in hours others take months or years. Some times you have forgotten you have even applied and then out of the blue they call.
I know what it is like to work for the kind of corporate department. I also worked for a company like that and was very happy to get on with and airline and have a life again. I didn’t even really take a pay cut! It was astonishing what the company expected for what they were willing to pay. Airline pilots think that all corporate jobs are fly once a week and get paid 80-100 grand. They think it is the best keep secret in aviation. Well its not it can suck far worse than they can imagine. They forget corporate guys have to pay your dues or what ever line of crap they try to feed you.

The sad thing is that I have tons of single pilot time up and down the east coast and I probably would get looked over for some academy grad with some glass RJ sim time in his look book, but with out the first min of actual.

G.I. Bill paid for my primary training, I have never paid for initial or recurrent and never intend to. The sad thing is I've been up and down the east coast single pilot into TEB, BOS, etc.. in all kinds of weather with a couple of interesting situations once again all single pilot. But I'm willing to bet that I would get looked over for one of the RJ Academy Grads with a little RJ sim and nothing else in his/her log book. I'm not trying to bit*h but it does happen.

Apply online to American Eagle if you have 100ME and I betcha they'll call within a week. They will now allow confirmation of domicile prior to training and need to hire 60/mo this year. Decent place to work but the upgrade will still take a while (though I think that will begin to be the case at most regionals as growth in this sector slows).

Info on new minimums and domicile policy here:

Good luck!

We've all had this captain...it is your future sperfly...
"I don't mean to b!tch, but..."
"I don't mean to be picky, but..."

Or the Captain-First Officer who has, for example, been up and down the entire east coast in all sorts of weather with a few interesting scenarios and so on.

I sent my stuff to SWA, Jet Blue, Continental, Delta and Spirit last week and they haven't called me yet...anyone else have that problem?

WTF, are you saying you would rather fly with someone with zero experience over someone with a little time and experience. I don't quite know what your saying.

What are the minimums down to these days? Sport pilot certificate and a self-endorsed medical? I love flying with the folks who complain that they paid their "dues" giving 300 hours of dual given. I waited thee years and gave 2000 dual given to get hired into the right seat of a 1900 and I was happy to get the job.

To answer your question....I'm suprised you haven't been called yet. If you are for real send me a PM and I'll try and help you if I can.
