Does anyone on here know the long term effects of heavy marijuana use. I recently left a job in Meridian, Ms where the chief pilot claimed he had smoked at least 300 lbs of the stuff in his younger years. He is now about 60yo and acts extremely strange. He came into the hangar early one morning and claimed to have had a vision from God ! Some days he could not remember where we were flying to. And he was talking a lot of off the wall crap. Any help here?

I don't get the question, if God didn't want the man to have visions from him, he wouldn't have made the guy smoke all that weed.

Don't you remember the part in the bible about the burning bush that talked, where the hell else would you get that kind of material?

If the guy is really wacked out then I wouldn't blame it on the pot. Most likely if he was smoking so much weed then he would have been experimenting with LSD etc.. and that could have a permenant effect on someone. Remember that in general, pilots are a wacky bunch and each that I've ever met has been completely unique to one another and a little eccentric. Pot affects everyone completely different. Long term effects of pot and alcohol has been shown to cause something called "Chronic brain syndrome" and that is pretty much the wife beater concept - People who are heavy users of either pot or alcohol suffer tremendous mood swings and become bad natured.
As long as your guy is happy and hasn't left a trail of destruction in his past, I'm sure he is fine. Just a little obnoxious regarding personality - like me!

Also, if he's 60 years old then you should look past those things. Psycology has shown that later in life people become more introspective and creative in their quest for a deeper meaning to their existance.
