Pardon the interruption......... but on the topic VP's....... does anyone know of any alumni group for VP-46? My dad was a Gray Knight until the early '70's, and has lost touch with most (if not all) of his squadron mates. It would be a kick if he hooked up with them again.

Thanks in advance.

Hey fellow alums,
It's good to see this up and going. and just thought I'd add some to the mix. A year ago I hit the big crossroads -- airlines, Navy, other? In the end, I went AEDO. Some good flying available, among other opportunities. If anyone wants to get the gouge, drop me a line.

FedEx Express

Life is good at FedEx Express. I have 5% of the responsibility that I had in the Navy and I work about two-thirds less. In two and one-half years, I have had only one jet go down for maintenance. There is zero pressure here. My family tells me that I am a new man. FedEx takes great care of its people (really, that's not just a saying). We have a great contract. Scheduling is very flexible and we have an awesome vacation system. You won't believe the awesome good deals until you see them for yourself.
The Marlin network continues to grow at FedEx. I believe we are up to four former Marlins at FedEx. The rumor mill says that FedEx will start training the guys in the current hiring pool and then some. Talk around the AOC is 250 to 300 new guys this year with 7000 pilots on the property by 2010. Now that is a juicy rumor! We currently have 4100 pilots with 950 scheduled to retire by 2010. That means a lot of hiring. I hope it is true. I start 727 Right Seat training on February 4th. Let me know if I can be of help to anyone. :)
I have two questions:
#1 How do we tell the identity of the folks posting messages? I can figure out the easy ones like when Hal Snapp signs his name and Inigo's user name. In VP-40, I could ask a JO for help. Now that I am retired, I am on my own.
#2 Why did Inigo pick Charles Manson as his avatar?:D

Mr. Rick Loan

I never thanked you properly for the help with the FedEx app and whatnot. Turns out JetBlue called first. THANKS though.

For those who are curious, ditto the above points with JetBlue (no pressure, great care of people taken, flexible scheduling, awesome vacation time, good deals). We'll be hiring 20/month for the forseeable future. As for former Marlins, I was the first, but the group is growing quickly. Any questions about the process, the company, the former Marlins there, etc. feel free to contact me. If you don't have my email then you can get it from Snapper.

Back to Rick's questions...

#1 Are you serious??
#2 Um... are you serious?

Snapper - Looks like you are the "tip of the spear" mobilizing the Marlin folks. ....And I applaud your efforts. I think I will have to "raise the bar" and get the Hawaii folks organized. New thread to follow.

We need to get all the good VP folks we know on board as the hiring wave happens.

ps. Snapper....I sent you some ATP written gooohey previously, if you need it again I can resend. Also, I am counselling and cautioning(and dropping) you concerning loading that SheppardAir program on your government computer.

THE NEW GUY

OK OK...messed that up. I just got the passdown. I needed some re-training. I created a new thread vice jumping in on Snappy's one.

Subject speaks for itself. I know exactly what dollar cost averaging means, but I have no idea CRM stands for.

Holy Crap!!!!!! Boots in the house?

By the way skippy, CRM is customer relations management, what kind of MBA are you getting down there? Incidentally, customer relations should not include blowing up a house so I apparently still have some work to do.

It ain't tricky

Just had some Cheese Toasties and Spaghetti Bolognaise with Boots Skippy Long last night here in Jax. No camel spiders to be found though. We even watched a University of Florida sporting event on TV too. Sorry Inigo it wasn't a football game.

...but sometimes it's tricky

That would be the esteemed Judas Prest.

Though I can't confirm he didn't get it from elsewhere, knowing how catch phrases tend to recycle themselves.

Also notable from Judas:
"bake a pie, eat a pie..." (with many variations thereof)

Concur, it was J. Prest.

Speaking of sayings, Mike Hess and I were mountain biking a canyon in the Rockies this weekend. As we are climbing into the snow line with a semi frozen river to our immediate left, I had to quote one Frank 'Snoop' Bronson:

This does definately not suck.

Bronson's rib?

The last time I was on a mountain bike, I rode 55 miles for a 1/2 ironman triathlon. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being really stupid, I rate it a 450,000. Not the smartest thing I've ever done.
I'm a slow, dumb animal.
