Good Afternoon-

I would say that the recent announcement by Virgin America shoots the rumor of an Independence Air buyout dead.

They have announced SFO as operations base (and have eliminated New York). That is clear across the country from IAD.

Also, December 16th, is the deadline for all interested FlyI parties to submit thier biz plans. I would doubt that Virgin would go public with such an announcement if FlyI were their only chance.

On the other hand, announcing the new airline gives Virgin a great deal of leverage in the FlyI bankruptcy award process. FlyI Senior management has stated that keeping the airline as a going concern would be the best course of action for shareholders. If Virgin did make a bid, this would classify them as a real player and obviously such acquisition of FlyI would expedite their filing process.

Does anyone have any FlyI rumors to go along with my thoughts??

Take Care-

"A furloughed FlyI pilot who refuses to sell himself out to any other airline except for FlyI."

"...refuses to sell himself out to any other airline..."

Pretty ballsy considering the number of fine airlines which for one reason or another are no longer around, or the MANY fine pilots who have been furloughed once, twice or more and who have gone on to other, better jobs at other carriers. A little perspective wouldn't hurt; something usually gained with a little more experience.

That being said, I understand your allegiance to ACA/FLYI. Good company with a good history of treating it's people well. Sometimes, despite all the good thoughts, wishes, prayers, ect. a good company still goes tits up. Capitalism doesn't give any points for being nice.
