Does anyone know if you can turn a video into a .wav file? The video camera I have is a few years old. I do not have a way to hook it up to the computer. Can I take the tape to some kind of shop that will convert it for me?
I may be wrong but a .wav file is only audio.
You would need to change it into a .mov or the windows version.
I am sure that there is a shop somewhere in PHX that does it. Are you sure that there are no ouputs on your camera?
The other option although protracted if possible is to get an adaptor for the tape that you have. I know some of the old camcorder video tapes could be put into said adaptor and then played through a VHS player.
From there you could go to bestbuy et al and buy a video plug in unit for your computer and take it straight off the VHS player and save it on the laptop.
I have never done it but guess it could be done that way.
It would be probably cheaper to get some to do it for you unless you have a lot of tapes that you want to change.
There are two ways to convert a VHS tape to a digital file: Video Capture Card and paying someone with a video capture card to do it for you.
There are lots of places that will convert your VHS tape into a DVD which can be read by the computer. Alot of places only do it through the mail but that is changing and if you live in PHX, there should be a place that will do it for you. Cost is about $5-$10 (I think).
