Hi fellow pilots:

Call me a sucker but I have to move close to my better half in Cleveland. I already have a Part 91 job but I like to move to CLE in the next 12 months and marry my sweetheart. I have ATP, 2500TT, 1000Multi , 125Turbine and a University Degree.

I know that these are the worst times to look for a pilot job but I am an optimist and believe that there must be some work out there that will alow me put some food on the table ...

Any hints or contacts are greatly appreciated as I am very new to this site and frankly I have not read any posts but pesimistic talks of doom and gloom.

Thank you all in advance

Here's some companies with CLE bases or something near that are currently hirring to my knowledge.

1. Commutair - CLE BE1900 base
2. Chit Taco - new BUF ERJ base - driveable/easily commutable
3. Comair - CVG base - driveable/easily commutable
4. PSA - (may start hirring) PIT base and DAY base - driveable
5. NetJets - CMH base - good luck
6. Pinnacle - DTW base
7. AirMidwest - may have 1900 outstation base somewhere near???

Hope it helps

She really wants to live in Cleveland? If she's a local then I understand. Most people I found from CLE tend not to ever leave CLE, so they think CLE is the best place in the world. The few that get out and see the rest of the country tend not to come back to CLE. Make your own judgements, but the Browns are getting better at least. BTW, stay away from The Flats, but definetly go check out the nearby river that was on fire back in the 70's (now it just has 1000's of dead fish).

You could get own with Commutair no problem and their CLE base is junior. Plus CLE is one of the few cities of its size you could probably afford on a Regional salary. Other then that plan on commuting.

Qiut flying

A flying career will be made much more difficult by the anchor of immobility, if you really like flying, you will find after a few years you really miss flying and reset her for taking that away from you. That could put a real strain on your marriage. Of course a divorced pilot is nothing new. Use your University degree to get a real job, like school teaching and then you will be home every night to enjoy her company.

That would be the Cuyahoga. I live about an hour away from Cleveland and go there about once every other year. The airport--KCLE--is a hellhole. Not much culture in the city either.

Why would anyone want to live in a state

that begins and ends with a vowel. Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Idaho...

and pilotyip...

...If you found a way to reset chicks, let me know how you do it, cause you are the man.

There's also AirNet, CMH is our HQ. It may take a few months to get a CMH bid though. There's also an AGC and a BUF base with a few runs out of both.

Very well said except for the teaching part.
2 Years ago, I was an RJ pilot for Eagle. I was commuting from ORD to south Louisiana when I found out that my wife was having triplets. After being refused an extended leave, I finally resigned to take care of a very sick family. Last year I decided to become a math teacher. I HATE IT, AND I WILL NEVER STEP INTO A CLASS ROOM AGAIN. Those kids ate my lunch.
My main point is that after 2 years of missing my airline career, I have found myself resenting my family for taking my dreams away. I know it was my decision to have kids and resign from Eagle, but these feelings just seem to creep in sometimes. For the past 6 months I have been job searching and trying to restart my airline career. This was my wife's suggestion because she has began to see my resentment and general bad attitude about being stuck on the ground. I have had to turn down 2 jobs so far because of the distance from my family was too great and these companies don't have jumpseat with anyone. Don't move thinking that you will just get a job with an airline in that city. It's not that easy right now. We are moving to Pittsburgh next month due to a job transfer for my wife and I am glad to say that I have made it in the pool of an airline there, but I was lucky. I don't know when The class will start but at least I'm in the pool.
Trust me when I say that you WILL begin to resent this girl if she takes away your flying career. I never thought I would feel resentment towards my family but it just sneeks in without you knowing it. I love my triplets to death and wouldn't want to be without them but I still find myself getting mad when I see an RJ fly over the house. If flying is in your blood, it won't just go away. You will always miss it if you leave.
