HANCEVILLE - Military veterans interested in an aviation career can utilize a post 9/11 GI Bill passed last December with Wallace State Community College's Flight Technology program beginning in August with the Fall 2011 semester.
Veterans who have served at least three years (36 months) of active duty since Sept. 11, 2001 are eligible to receive up to 100 percent of their costs in airplane and helicopter training. A housing stipend is also available to those who are eligible.

"It's an excellent opportunity for those who are eligible. It will pay for tuition, fees and aircraft rental," said Marsha Bradford of the WSCC Flight Technology program. "We've been getting calls from states as far away as Ohio and Colorado. Once students are enrolled into the program they are given 36 months to complete it."

Veterans who lack three years of service since 9/11 are still eligible for assistance at a prorated amount.
The post 9/11 legislation is titled S.3447 and was passed because the airline industry is forecasting a shortage of pilots in upcoming years.
For more information about the post 9/11 qualifications, please contact Bradford or WSCC Flight Technology Department Head Bert Mackentepe at 256-737-3040 or 1-800-238-6681 or Joyce Cordes in the Wallace State Financial Aid office at 352-8255.

ROLL TIDE!

You really feel that way, against a veteran getting a break after what he/she has done for this country? Or you just flaming?

Yep. Continue to use my tax dollars to keep me down!

Relax your using up valuable oxygen someone else might need you twit.

I would be more worried about what little taxes you do pay going towards
our cradle to grave "social" programs then a benefit someone actually has to "earn"

It's a defined benefit that they can use for schooling during or after their service. whether their using it for college or a trade school is up to them.

The G.I. Bill (officially titled Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, P.L. 78-346, 58 Stat. 284m) was an omnibus bill that provided college or vocational education for returning World War II veterans (commonly referred to as G.I.s) as well as one year of unemployment compensation.

The GI Bill (and later refinements) have been around longer than you. Maybe if you served your country some way, you would not make such a comment.

I am a disabled veteran and I am still paying for mine. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
