I'm thinking of switching to Verizon wireless. Does anyone have any gripes about this company? Let me know before I sign the dreaded contract. Any advise about verizon... such as cracks not to fall into would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have zero complaints.

After two years, you get a new phone, too.

It IS a different kind of service protocol, CDMA instead of TDMA, which is used by AT&T. That means getting a new phone.

I was able to get a phone from a friend who upgraded from her old Nokia to an LG. It was similar to my AT&T Nokia, so I lucked out.

Hi!

iF u search, there are quite a few threads on this. I read a lot of them.

I have Verizon, and believe the cust serv to be good. They have resolved all my problems successfully.

From what I've heard, Verizon is definitely better than ATT and Sprint. Verizon has the best coverage. Their "onerate" is the best coverage, and the highest price. I switched from onerate to "America's Choice" which is cheaper, but the coverage is more similar to Sprint.

I live in GRB, and only Sprint, Verizon or ATT provided coverage for me there. I was just flying with a Cingular guy-he couldn't get coverage (some small town in the Midwest) and I could.

Good luck

MY 2 Cents

I have had Verizon for 3 or 4 years now. I had Sprint prior to that. With out a doubt Verizon has been better. Coverage is better, fewer dropped calls, good customer service, and inexpensive plans. I have America's Choice and have not been anywhere I couldn't get coverage. That includes the cow patty fields in OK and KS. Plus, because my wife, coworkers and friends all have the same service I can call their cell phones any time of the day with out with unlimited minutes. Practically don't need a home phone now. I use less than 500 minutes a month (shared with my wife) and don't try to limit my calls.

I'll give a different opinion. Can you hear me now? Verizon is constantly dropping calls. Full signal strength, but as soon as you hit "send" I lose everything. When it does go though it takes 15 to 40 sec. before it actually starts dialing.

Have the phone with me all day. BEEP BEEP BEEP, you have a new voice message. Funny, the phone has been on the table in front of me for how long? It never even rang. Ok so what's the message: BEEP BEEP BEEP, you have a new voice message. It won't let me check my messages because it is too busy telling me I have a message.

I have Verizon check out the phone, but they claim that nothing is wrong with it. I tell them about all the problems and they say "I don't know."

Used to have ATT but left because they were too expensive. How I wish I still have them. Never, read that as never, had a problem with them. I can't wait till the contract is up on Verizon, I out!

Man, that is rough. Can you describe where you are using your phone and what kind of service you have?

Wankel

I had Att for 8 years, and Nextel for 2. Verizon is better than both. I get service all over the country, even when others don't. I've had maybe 10 dropped calls in 2 years.

ouch. Being a tech for vzw for 3 years it sounds like the prob is with your cell phone not the service... :)
take you phone to a retail store and have them check it out. If they say nothing is wrong 'demand' a new phone!
One thing that will help you out is the following:
When you have a problem call cst svc. When you call, a record is put on your account. Than when you go to the store they will see all the problems that you have been having.
hope this helps.

ps to everyone.. stay away from vzw resellers...
