I had a relative successfully fight the City of Chicago and IL to register her car in WI (she kept getting tickets due to some sort of City registration requirement). She had a summer house in WI and thus set it up where she paid WI taxes and registered in WI.

I don't know about you guys, but if you work at a major airline, you can probibly pay taxes and register your car in any state they work out of (assuming you have some property there). Dunno if I would go with paying taxes in one state and registering your car in another tho.

I've had AZ plates on my truck since I bought it. Made it through 6 months in CA, 10 months in TX, 14 mos in WV, and 12 mos in OH. Never got pulled over, never a ticket, no big deal. Kept the tags current, and got a waiver from AZ when an emissions test was due. The waiver was signed by a WV cop who never even looked at the truck.

Roll the dice. If you get caught, pay the man. If not, join the club and count yourself lucky.

The impact fee was ruled unconstitutional in court 9-10 years ago. Everybody who had paid it, me included, got a refund check minus the lawyers fee(I think it was $20). Also, Florida has no inspections
Thanks for the informative update...and I'm glad to see that that was struck down. It was an issue when I was down there back in 93.
