I'm sure he won't want me to speak specifics here, but something about allowing FOs on a Airbus at other companies take captain slots before him no matter how long after him they were hired and will be given better seniority when it happens. I might have that wrong, you might have to clear that one up. If that's the program, can't see how geting on now benefits him, since guys are going to be given upgrades who are technically junior, especially if now is the uncertain time and those FOs at other companies are just going to wait til the airline is running.
