The stanby alt. is not corrected for temp and should always read higher than the prim. alt.that gets it's info from the ADC.

When the gear handle is up there is hyd pressure still going to the actuators. When it is off the pressure is released and the gear is held up by the uplocks. Guess it keeps the wear down on the componants.
 
It's probably the angle. Like the panel displays you can hardly make out.
 
I got it!!
The caption says they are descending. The AI says they are straight and level. The altimeter says they are at 29300, so either they are descending, or they just busted altitude, in which case they get to call the tower.

AM I RIGHT?? What is the prize?? Danica Patrick?? Madeline?? Kathy Sweeney??

They missed placing the gear handle to the center position during the "after take-off" checklist. Thus failing to remove hydraulic pressure to the mechanical uplocks.

I am not 100% sure of it... but i thought that the gear handle was a KLM procedure... so thats is ok
 
...could have an MEL that requires gear handle left in the "up" position. That is a descending attitude in a 747, and the Wiskey Compass is precessing to indicate a descent (check it vs the dialed in mag heading).
