USAIR is still short for current flying. We are flying 90 plus hours and certain days there are no reserves. Reserves are timing out.Last bid award for jul and aug still showed vacancies on the 737 190 and little bus.
During the last few months USAIR EAST is shrinking to minimum fleet. 208 planes plus about 18 190's. (190 do not count).

There has been no growth. We are half the size we used to be . (415 planes down to 208 plus 18 190's).
All flying replaced by RJ's and E 170/175.

All hiring and recalls are because people have left. The seniority numbers need to be redone. Actual working pilots EAST 2800 pilots. The SL has about 200 pilots less then the 3600 people mention.

I guess the 190 isn't a real airplane? Is it one of those fake ones you use a remote control with?

I've always thought guys with the USAir badge flew 190s....

The 190 does not count against contractually required fleet minimums. That was the context of the comment, and it is 100% accurate.

I have been on RSV for 1 week, so far. I was called on my day off before the week began. SCH had an open trip for a flight in 35 minutes (unable). Tomorrow, as I begin my second week, there are 6 open trips and 7 RSVs.

The staffing here is quite short for a major, and similar to my previous airline at this point.

I think it's a matter of once again, US superb crew management at work. They've got so many people spread around the list, where they don't belong, I don't think they know what way is up. Lot of guys have been held to cover flying while others get out of training. DCA AB, reserve screen shows 20 reserves or more, but maybe half of those are actually qualified.

here are the furlough numbers. straight from Lyle Hogg, VP Flight Ops in the LAS crew room tonight. 175 pilots furloughed out west and 125 out East, so AWA pilots will be let go while furloughed (at the time of the merger) x US Air pilots get to stay. How UCRAPPA is that. AWA saves US Air and now our pilots are being furloughed are a significantly higher % rate than theirs. What a pile of doo-doo. They are going to reduce further in 09 and 10, so more on the way.

Boss Hogg also said that furloughs would happen monthly from Sept-March. 10 in Sept, 30 (about) per month until 175. LOA's would decrease those numbers. Also, IF fuel comes back to 100 and/or pricing increases do not decrease capacity yadda yadda yadda; we may not have to furlough as many. Let me speak on behalf of those not over 60. fu
