DL and CAL will not get together. There is nothing either carrier has that either carrier wants. We are both strong in Europe, we are strong in Central and South America and DAL is building up their presence down there. EWR, JFK, CLE, CVG, IAH, ATL. The only thing CAL would be remotely interested in is SLC. Nope CAL and DAL will not happen.
You may be right , but don't forget that they ALMOST merged a few years ago. Have their route/fleet systems changed since then to the extent that it's no longer a good fit? I do see a couple of other problems with it -- too much presence in EWR/NYC, plus NWA's "golden share".
Post #7 is one of the wittiest I've seen yet on flightinfo. Where'd you find it Noserider?

U.S. Air could still take part in airline-industry consolidation, according to analysts at Bear Stearns.

"We don't think the M&A story is over," analyst David Strine wrote in a note to investors. "There are other, more willing players -- e.g. United (UAUA : ual corp-- that could also be a potential partner for [U.S. Airways]."
Thank gawd we got rid of Parker..... And Tilton seems to want to merge. So, have at it boys! (how would that work in the West? Hubs--SFO,LAX, PHX, LAS, DEN?? Yikes) Maybe Delta could buy up some of the hubs......TIC.
